Program crashes on Windows shutdown using Internet Explorer
System: Windows XP SP3 installed on a new iMac 20" using Internet Explorer.
When enabling the option to "sync on shutdown" the program crashes, when Windows is shutting down.
Looking in the log file, the only error I can find is:
"Couldn't find filter function [127], unable to unfilter outside messagse"

Inappropriate?Hey Paul,
The "Couldn't find filter function" error is normal in XP, that shouldn't be causing it. When Foxmarks crashes does another dialog popup asking if you want to send in a crash report? Also, we just released an update last night (0.9.80). Can you try upgrading and see if it still happens? -
Inappropriate?Hi Colin,
No, no other dialog boxes appear. When shutting down it starts syncing and then the windows "end propgram" pops up, a few seconds later the machine shuts down.
I downloaded the new build yesterday a few hours after posting this question. I uninstalled and installed the new version V0.9.80 but the same problem occurs. Looking through the event log I can see nothing that points back to your program either.
I’m undecided

Inappropriate?Okay, thanks for the information. Do you have a lot (say several thousand) of bookmarks? One possibility is that we're trying to synchronize but Windows decides that the program is frozen and forces us to shut down.
-
Inappropriate? There are about 20 bookmarks so I dont think this will be the cause. Its also on a fresh install of Windows XP SP3. My domain profile is also a few weeks old (deleted my old Vista profile and uninstalled Vista). Working on a domain with 2 DC's using AD if that makes any difference?
I can manualy sync fine, its only ever on shutdown sync that this occurs.
I’m happier but still not content

Well this is certainly annoying. However, there is one hope. I just fixed a couple of bugs that were causing crashes in Foxmarks for IE. It's possible that you're hitting one of those cases while shutting down. Unfortunately I think the best solution for now is to disable sync on shutdown and see if the next release fixes things. -
Inappropriate? If this option is unticked when will automatic sync work? Its for a user who has a works laptop with 2 profiles, one will be local and one will be the domain profile.
I want to be able to install Foxmarks and just leave it to automatically sync between the two when he logs in without any intervention from the user. -
Automatic sync is triggered at least once an hour (to look for changes on the Foxmarks servers). Additionally, any time you make a change locally we'll sync those changes back to the server within 5 minutes.
