The 10.6 version of Xmarks for Safari (v1.3) can be downloaded from here:

Now that we're happy using it ourselves we're releasing it here first so you guys get it as soon as possible.
Some notes:
This passes our basic acceptance tests but we're still doing full regression testing. So download it and use it with that in mind. Several of us have been using this for a few days and finding it works great. We plan to release this on our website in a few more days if we don't run into major problems.

The sync engine is the same as before, so various rare problems that have come up before (and are discussed here) are still potentially present. Rest assured we're still working on these. That said, we're not seeing more or new problems with this release.
You don't need to uninstall before installing this version. Your settings should transfer over just fine.
If you uninstall first it will remove your ~/Library/Xmarks folder with login name, preferences, and previous state. That state is just our snapshot of the Sync Services bookmarks data, so it's no big deal to remove it - we just remake it and treat this as a first time merge/upload/download. Either way things should just work.
What changed:
All the Discovery features have been removed, so no tweaks to Safari. This means no SIMBL plugin, which will obsolete a couple of bugs and incompatibilities. We'll revisit this when/if we can find a supported avenue into Safari.

Separate 10.5 and 10.6 installers. We're looking into merging, but it's not a priority. Underneath, the code is all the same on both versions.

Many small fixes to code for things that simply worked at 10.5 but broke in various ways at 10.6.
Things we know about in the new 10.6 1.3 version:
Some warnings in the system console. We're working on them. Nothing critical.
The Xmarks Prefs panel causes the system prefs app to relaunch in 32-bit compatibility mode. This is despite being built with a 64-bit slice which should prevent this. We're working on it, but so far we're a bit stumped. If anyone has pointers, let me know. I really want this fixed, it annoys the heck out of me.
The DMG doesn't have the nice logo when it opens. Right - anyone care? :)
If you think you ran into something not already reported here, or have more info on a problem, please post feedback - a new thread with 10.6 in the subject is probably easiest to track, but do whatever you feel like. If you need to send your login name and you prefer not to post it, send email to support@xmarks.com and mention that you're using the v1.3 pre-release.
Remember this is a slightly early release. We're using it, and we're good so far. If you want to wait a week or so, you'll get the benefit of whatever we find. That said... thanks for waiting and using our software. Looking forward to your feedback!

As of today the version is 1.3.1 If you have 1.3, you should get his version as it fixes the annoying issue where the preference panel relaunches in 32-bit mode.

Inappropriate?You guys are great - I really appreciate the feedback. I think I am going to try baking a completely new cert and go through the build from scratch. I'm not sure I can get the cert until Tuesday tho' - still working on it :) Once I get this done I'll have a new installer (that also fixes the annoying prefs 32-bit relaunch problem). Oh and I can't repro this problem either - so I'll be relying on you folks who see this!

Inappropriate?I installed the pre-pre-release and so far it seems to be working fine for me. There were, however, quite a number of messages in my console log and saved the messages (and the log file it refers to) if you guys want to have a look at it. How do I send it to you?

Hi ~fyrfli~: There are three messages in the logs that I am aware of and are not critical (altho I fully intend to track down the causes and fix them as soon as I can). Here's what I know about already:
.scriptSuite warning for result type of command 'timedLoad' in suite 'SystemPreferences': the type NSNumber ('long') doesn't match the result Apple event code ('doub').
__NSAutoreleaseNoPool(): Object 0x30f0f00 of class NSCFString autoreleased with no pool in place - just leaking
-[NSAutoreleasePool release]: This pool has already been drained, do not release it (double release).

Inappropriate?I twittered the comment that I just realized Safari wasn't updated for Snow Leopard. A nice surprise within a very short time - Xmarks @ Twitter to me that this beta was out. I am thrilled. Installed and worked perfect. THANK YOU XMARKS! Sorry to yell but I am very happy!

Inappropriate?Hey there, I was having no problem with XMarks for SL, until I installed the Growl 1.2beta2, now I can't complete a synchronization for the life of me. It errors out and says "Unable to complete synchronization error 0"
Any clues if the new version will fix this? I have a feeling the 64 and 32-bit preference panes are what the issue is (since Growl runs all the time and is 64-bit, I'm thinking it might conflict with another PPane that runs at 32...but that's just a guess)3 Comments Add a comment

Try and remove the xmarks ticket (then others if this doesn't help) from /$home/Library/Application Support/Growl/Tickets/ to see if this helps. I had an issue with the Growl ticket after I installed 1.2b2/
Since Xmarks 1.3 came out, I haven't had any problems syncing.

Inappropriate?Hi film_girl: Thanks for the headsup on Growl 1.2beta2 I just installed it and have not reproduced your error - I suspect Growl (and the 64/32 bit prefs) is not the problem. However you might have run into an older problem (not that common, we will track it down, still in progress, etc etc :) where some part of your Xmarks temp files get out of sync. You can fix that almost always (it won't affect your actual bookmarks as those are stored in the OS X sync services db) as follows:
Reset Xmarks (will not affect your bookmarks which are stored in the system's sync services):
* Stop Xmarks for Safari
* Navigate in Finder (or the command line) to your home -> Library -> Xmarks folder and delete all the files ending in json, and also the file native.plist
* Restart Xmarks for Safari
* Sync. This will look like a first time sync to Xmarks, so go through the wizard. You can pick any of the options, but the merge -> start with local (which is the default) should work fine.
If you still get the error, and don't mind sharing your Xmarks temp files and config, here's the next thing to do:
* Go to the Xmarks preferences, Help tab, press the Debug Report button
* This creates a file Xmarks-info.zip on your Desktop
* Attach that to an email to support@xmarks.com, mention you came from GetSat and your GetSat username so we can keep track

Inappropriate?Small update: We seem to have several 1000 people using the 10.6 v1.3 with no new problems that we didn't know about. Some of the same old problems are still there, but I plan to hit those in the coming releases.
We're still ironing out some not very interesting details (code signing, installer, upgrade mechanism, that kind of thing) and finally finding where those odd console messages come from. Minor stuff hopefully. We should have an official 1.3 soon.

We just posted 1.3.1 over at http://download.xmarks.com, please try it out if you have a moment. The only significant change from 1.3 is that the prefs panel no longer relaunches. Under the covers there's also a new code signing cert. Next up we're gathering all the (fairly rare, even tho' you tend to see them here a lot) sync errors we know of and are going to try to nail all those down. Hmm, I'll update the top post on this topic.

and it's true. if i launch safari on my macbook, it doesn't show up the bookmark i created on my iMac.
and both prefpanes say:

Is this the case after you hit 'sync now' on the machine with a new bookmark and then (once that's done) on the machine that should receive the bookmark? If that doesn't work, send debug logs from both machines to support@xmarks.com and say you came from GetSat.

I've been trying (in vain) to install 1.3.1. I was using 1.3 happily, and thought I'd go for the upgrade. The installer hangs forever, and never actually does anything beyond the "Preparing for Installation..." phase. There's a button labeled "Skip" in the lower right corner. After 10 minutes of waiting for it to do something, I thought I'd try it. Nothing. Still sitting there, doing nothing.
I thought it might be related to the existing installation, so I even went so far as to uninstall 1.3, reboot, then try installing 1.3.1. Still no go. Same symptom.
Running 10.6.1, all updates installed. Any thoughts? Thanks. -

In a seemingly bizarre turn of events, the seventh time was the charm. I have no idea why, but 1.3.1 installed successfully on my 7th attempt. Sunspots? :)

Strange. One or two people have reported an install problem where the OS complains that it cannot run Classic content - which is odd because we don't have any. There might be clues in your /var/log/install.log - I noticed you dropped us an email... perhaps you could send me that there!
