sync error for IE7 on Vista

I have xmarks 1.0.8 installed for IE7 on Vista. I'd like to download my bookmarks from the server and overwrite the local version. Whenever I attempt to synchronize, I receive the message "Synchronization Error". My Bookmarks Toolbar bookmarks download synchronizes (but alphabetizes the bookmarks) and one folder from my other Firefox bookmarks downloads, but the vast majority of my bookmarks do not appear.
