Syncing gets stuck
I often find Foxmarks in a "synchronizing" state. I notice the icon at the bottom of my FF 3.5.2 window (on Mac 10.5.7) showing the green synchronizing animation, and if I click on it Foxmarks just says "synchronizing". If I quit and restart FF, I can sync fine. Last lines of the log show:
[2009-08-28 08:34:36] ------ Xmarks/3.3.2 (/Places) starting sync with sync.xmarks.com ------
[2009-08-28 08:34:36] Using Baseline Cache.

[2009-08-28 08:34:36] >>> Body is: {"baserev":115,"log":{"mid":"fkg74xp2","serp":3,"ssEnabled":true}}
Any ideas?

Inappropriate?Hey Steve,
Thanks for the detailed post, I really appreciate it. Unfortunately the logfile doesn't contain any helpful clues. Are there any errors listed in your error console? Firefox->Tools->Error console
How long does it sit in "syncing mode?"
Hopefully we can sort this out quickly!
Thanks,
Nate -
Inappropriate? When it happens it stays in that mode seemingly forever, until I restart FF. I will wait for it to happen again and look at the error console.
-
Inappropriate? It's happening again now. I have no idea when it started. I sleep my Mac overnight, and at some stage I glance at the Xmarks icon and I see it pulsing. Xmarks log is same as before. Can't see anything relevant in the error console. I've seen this on more than one Mac too.
Does the log indicate that a request isn't getting a reply? Do you have any sort of timeout if that happens? -
Inappropriate?Any update on this problem? It's continuing for me. Is there anything I can do to diagnose?
-
Inappropriate?I also noticed that recently on my Mac computer. Will enable logging, when I return to it.
-
Inappropriate? My log is really weird, nothing in there from today at all! And I had Firefox running all day.

Inappropriate? That's the thing. If you find a log entry where things are working, there's a reply after the "Body is" line. In this case, it's missing, just like mine. You'd probably find that XMarks has been in the "synchonizing" state since the 11th. Do you just sleep the Mac overnight and leave Firefox running?

Inappropriate?Just a bump on this issue. It continues to happen. Can someone follow up please?
-
Inappropriate?Hi,
We use the Firefox's built-in networking, which typically has a (30 second?) timeout, so the behavior you're seeing is unusual. I also have a Mac, am running Firefox, and Xmarks recovers from sleep without difficulty.
So I would look at atypical things in your local network environment, e.g., on-box proxy, antivirus, firewall, etc. -
Inappropriate?Would you agree from the logs above (myself and the other user) that Xmarks is attempting the sync and then not getting any response? If that's the case, why doesn't Xmarks itself just realise this, cancel the sync, and try again later?
I have this issue on an iMac and a Macbook Pro. I have no other networking issues on either computer. No proxies, and just a router "firewall".
Any other ideas?
