Inappropriate?Hey Frank,
What version of Xmarks do you currently have installed?
Thanks! -
Inappropriate?Xmarks for IE version 1.0.10
-
Inappropriate? Thanks for the update. Have you downloaded 1.0.11 from
http://download.xmarks.com/download/all
or are you doing a download through the "Check for updates" function in advanced settings?
Could you try and download 1.0.11 again? I just installed 1.0.11, and the installer file is 2.16MB (right click file, click properties). If you could double check that the file has been completely downloaded, that would be great.
Thanks! -
Inappropriate?I've done that multiple times - every time it prompts me to do so....
I've tried d/ling from the site. I've tried the advance update setting. I've tried just following the prompts when it ASKS me to update. Nothing works....
Please understand that it will NOT install and you CANNOT uninstall the old version - no matter what you do it simply says it can't find a .msi file..... -
Inappropriate?Hey Frank,
Thanks for the update. Try this out:
Steps:
1. Download the old installer file to your hard drive.
https://static.xmarks.com/clients/ie/...
2. Run the new Xmarks for IE installer (version 1.0.11)
3. When it prompts for the missing .msi file, point it to the old 1.0.10.msi file you just downloaded.
4. Continue with the installation as directed.
Hope that works out for you! Let me know!
Thanks -
I have the same issue but when I get the prompt to provide an older .msi file, it's asking for 0.9.85. I've also tried to outright uninstall the version before installing 1.0.11 but I get the same prompt for the .msi file.
Is there a place to download this version so I can upgrade ot the new one?
Thank you! -
Inappropriate?Having tried everything you suggested and having received no response to requests to "fix" Xmarks when your suggestions failed; I understood that no further useful support would be provided and that I was "on my own"......
In the hope of helping others, let me reveal to you the steps that must be taken to remove your hostile software so that it can be reinstalled properly.....
First: Delete ALL files you can find...
Next: Using "regedit", you must manually delete ALL registry entries containing the term "xmarks". There are about fifty or sixty of them.
Next: Reboot the machine so that previously loaded, if deleted, registry items will be purged.....
Next: Using a commercial registry cleaner, remove any/all orphaned registry entries....
Next: Reboot again to purge loaded registry commands....
After all that, one can reinstall Xmarks normally......
For the record, while your software is hostile and won't allow simple uninstall or reinstall, once installed, it funtions well and does a good job of keeping bookmarks synced....
Good application but the uninstall/repair segments need attention..... -
Inappropriate?I sent an email to xmarks support and they sent me the link to the old version of xmarks. I pointed the uninstall to the downloaded file and it worked.

Inappropriate?Ah thank you!
I had altered the download link Nate gave above for 0.9.85 and it didn't work..
Looking at your link, I now realize I forgot to adjust the name from xmarks to foxmarks. Oops!
Thank you!
I’m thankful
