User name not mine
User name not mine
Why is XMarks for IE asking for a password for a user name that is not mine on the "Log in to Xmarks" box?
It used to have my name there, then mine was gone and a wierd mismash name was there!
I did a sign in with my name and password O.K., now it shows both names on the log in box.
How do I get that other name off my log in box?
I also have XMarks on Fire Fox and it is O.K.!
They are both syncing on the same bookmarks.
IE8
FF 3.5.3
Win XP SP3

Inappropriate?I'm not sure exactly what you mean by "now it shows both names on the log in box." Where do you see both user names listed? In the drop down menu for "User name" in the Xmarks for IE login dialog?
-
Inappropriate?Yep!
-
Inappropriate? You should be able to remove entries from the dropdown menu by using the down-arrow to select the one you don't want and then holding down the Shift key while hitting the Delete key. Does that work?
-
Inappropriate?Nope!
Select and delete using Shift key will blank out the field, but when you hit the down arrow the entry is still there.
Also, any idea why that entry is there?
It is not my name jumbled up - there are more characters in the bogus name than in my username! -

I’m confused

Just to make sure I know what you're talking about, can you take a screen shot of exactly what you're seeing? -
Inappropriate?Hello!
Anybody there?
Have not had a reply since last month! -
Hey Joe,
We use a standard Windows authentication dialog to handle the username and password input. Sadly I don't know how to remove things from them. You might have better luck in a Windows-specific message board, but I'm not even sure where to look for the right answer. -
Inappropriate?Oh well, thanks anyway!
I tried removing and reinstalling both Xmarks and IE8.
Still had that username.
Had to dump my user profile and remake it to clear out that problem.
Later,
Joe
