Inappropriate?Using my own server plus having all my bookmarks synchronized over 3 machines is a very positive effect for me.

Granted, if you carefully maintain backups already and don't ever use more than one computer, you might not have much use for Foxmarks, but even then it can be nice to know your bookmarks can be found at http://my.foxmarks.com/ should you ever find yourself sitting at another computer.
Also, Foxmarks is nice to many small animals. Primarily mammals.
