Why can't I use my own server with the Safari version of Foxmarks?
I can not seem to use my own server in the Safari version of Foxmarks, like I can in the Firefox version. Is it possible? If so, how? If not, why not, and will it be supported eventually? If so, when?

Inappropriate? The initial release of Foxmarks for Safari does not include support for own-server usage. We hope to bring all the non-Firefox Foxmarks clients to feature parity with the Firefox extension over time, but we don't have any definite timeline presently for when those features will be released.
For the new client versions, we wanted to focus primarily on getting the sync right first; there's still some polish here and there to be done for both IE and Safari, so that's our priority right now.

Unfortunately, this is a make or break feature for me, so I will have to hold on Foxmarks for the time being. However, do you have any plans on open-sourcing the Safari plugin, like with the Firefox plugin, because if you did, I (and many others, I'm sure) would be happy to contribute development time towards getting this feature working. -
Understood, thanks for your feedback!
As for open sourcing the software, note that Foxmarks for Firefox isn't currently open source. Version 1.0.1 was released under the Apache license, but the current version is not open sourced. -
Inappropriate?Any clue on when Xmarks for Safari will support own-server usage? Now that you are 'Xmarks', interoperability should be a strong point - but... it is not!

Inappropriate?Any word on this being on the horizon? This is VERY frustrating and is close to making the product useless for me. Anyone have any alternate software for cross browser sync with a personal server?

Inappropriate?I'm interested in using my own server for Safari, too. Anything new on this topic?
