why does firefox keep losing bookmarks
I've been using Xmarks on multiple systems and I'm getting tired of constantly seeing a notification that I've lost bookmarks. What is causing this? I've got Firefox 3.0 and 3.5 installed on different systems, mainly because it seems that 3.5 doesn't work very well yet in Ubuntu.
I suppose this is a Firefox problem, but if Xmarks doesn't work with 3.5, why does it show as compatible?

If you're seeing this error and your bookmarks are still intact, you probably have a corrupted Firefox profile. Before you create a new one, you can try a manual Upload in a browser, with the bookmarks you'd like to preserve. Once that is complete, perform a download in the rest of the browser you sync with.
You can do that here:
Xmarks Settings->Advanced->Upload/Download
If the message is still displaying, I'd create a new Firefox profile. We've been seeing a lot of this happen after an upgrade to Firefox 3.5. The directions are here:
