Why is Xmarks Safari refusing to sync? Freezes and shuts down. Console: No schema bundle
I had X Marks 1.3.1 running with Safari 4.0.3 and it suddenly stopped working.
Now I can get Xmarks up and running but it won't sync.
When I hit "Synchronize now" the pop-window says "Logging in", which it seems to do, then says "Starting sync" but then it freezes. After a few seconds the pop-up window closes and Xmarks stops running.
Any idea what is happening?
Thanks

Inappropriate? It's possible there is some clue in the application log, but more likely in the system console (if the app is dying, it's probably not recording a problem). Let's gather both those sources of data, and please email the results to support@xmarks.com - mention you came from this GetSat thread so we can keep track. On to gathering some data...
(1) Getting your sync client debug info:
* Go to the Xmarks preferences, Help tab, press the Debug Report button
* This creates a file Xmarks-info.zip on your Desktop
* Attach that to an email to support@xmarks.com
(2) Getting your system console output:
* Start the Console from Finder: /Applications/Utilities/Console
* Clear the display to make it easier to work with: View > Clear Display
* Make the error happen. If something interesting shows up in the console then continue...
* Select and save the error lines: click on the first interesting line, shift click on the last interesting line, then Edit > Copy, then paste into the same email to us

Inappropriate? The true answer is that this program has not worked with OS back to almost it's inception. Fox marks works great, but don't count on any syn between apple programs such as Safari soon, they just can't crack the code. Ain't that correct fellas?
Check out the previous complaints about synching. Has anyone had good results with Safari?

Inappropriate?Turns out Terry had done a re-install of OSX - this overwrote part of our install (sync schemas) but left the rest of our app. The solution is a simple re-install of Xmarks for Safari. The diagnostically interesting message is in the system console is:
SyncServices precondition
failure in [ISyncConcreteManager registerSchemaWithBundlePath:]: No schema bundle at /System/Library/SyncServices/Schema /XmarksBookmarksSchema.syncschema

Inappropriate? The problem is fixed, thanks to prompt and very helpful support from Max (above).
As he says, I had a system problem and re-installed OS X, which seems to have caused the loss of sync. I followed his instructions and everything is up and running again now.
I have been running Xmarks for a while now on OS X and it has always worked smoothly and without a hitch - and so unobtrusively in the background that I don't know it's there most of the time (which is why I didn't spot the sync breakdown straight away after the system re-install!).
Thanks for the help.
I’m happy
