xmarks doesn't synchronize
Since upgrading from foxmarks to xmarks, my laptop computer can no longer download from your server. It cannot sync either. It tries for some time until it gives up and then prompts me again in a few minutes to try again. It will tell me there's a more current set of bookmarks on the server and do I want to merge or download it. I never had this problem with foxmarks.

Sorry for the inconvenience this may have caused, as well as the delayed response! From what you've described, it sounds like there were some temporary connectivity issues with your laptop. When Xmarks prompts asking whether you'd like to download or merge, it usually means that an upload (server overwrite) has occurred from one of your computers.
If you choose merge, it will merge what is currently on the server with your local bookmarks in your browser. If you choose Download, it will overwrite what you have in your local browser and replace them with what is on the server.
I would login to my.xmarks.com and verify what is currently on the server, and from there choose which way you'd like Xmarks to sync. After that, I think you should be up and running!

Inappropriate?To all---it was mysteriously solved on 1 computer, the one that has most frequently had it, apparently by automatic updates to the module---I can think of no other reason!
