Inappropriate? The solution of the synchronisation problem "Exception 502: "Duplicate nids detected..." is:
1. Open "My Xmarks" in Internet
2. Tools: Explore & Restore old bookmarks
3. Look in XMarks settings: when was the Date+Time of last successful Snyc
4. Restore this Backup-ID, which was the last correct Sync-Execution

Is this fix supposed to preserve changes made on the machine with the problem since the problem started? -

I'd like the option of at least showing the path through the favorites tree to the item with problems, so I can try inspecting it to determine just what the problem is, and perhaps correcting it manually.
Just the name of the favorite is not enough information to let me find it.

I finally tries a Vista search for files with Endophilin in the name, and one of the first files it found was the one with the problem - a URL shortcut with the actual URL missing. I deleted that file, and was able to synchronize without losing the other changes on that machine. However, since then, that machine has started showing a new error which appears to be related. No longer on the screen, but here are the new last few lines of xmarks.log:

Inappropriate?Deleting the whole subfolder that contained the defective link did not help.
In case the problem is specific to certain URLs, make sure Xmarks for IE8 under Vista works for this URL:
http://www.jbc.org/cgi/content/full/2...

Inappropriate?Moving all the items in that subfolder to other folders on another computer did not help; I now get a few more messages asking where certain items belong.
The error messages should allow a copy with the mouse in order to transfer the entire error messages here.
If I copied the error message correctly, it is now:
Unexpected error during synchronization: XmarksException [source: internal, id:
-50]: Nearest Ancestor failed accessing NEE8b
Just overwriting the entire database on this computer with the one from the server is not a satisfactory solution, due to the large number of other changes made on this computer since the problem started, but overwriting just one item or subfolder would be.
I’m frustrated
