Xmarks for IE Uploaded Sync File Error
I have Xmarks on 3 Firefox browsers and it works great. After installing on IE8, I somehow got an old copy of Bookmarks on the server. After using an Xmarks resstore, FireFox is OK, but IE won't re-sync and worse, keeps giving me the attached 'Xmarks has detected you have an uploaded file...' message, which I can't get rid of. I have a process xmarkssync.exe running which I guess is producing the message. I have disabled Xmarks on IE and rebooted, but I can't stop that message or that process.
Since I rarely use IE, I would be happy to uninstall Xmarks for IE - can I do that? And how can I get rid of that process if it is the problem.
When I got this error on FireFox, I clicked download and it resynced without a problem.

Inappropriate?OK, I may have fixed this. I found an uninstall file for Xmarks, ran it and after a reboot, the process did not re-appear. It was also gone from the list of IE8 add ins. Now I can re-install for FireFox and leave IE8 alone.

Inappropriate?Would you share the details on how you did this so the rest of us can too? Thx

Inappropriate?I didn't really solve the larger problem of getting xmarks to work with IE08, but I was able to get it uninstalled so I didn't keep getting an error message. There wasn't an entry for Xmarks in Add/Remove programs, but I found an Xmarks folder that had an uninstall executable, so I ran that. That eliminated the xmarkssync.exe process and the message. I had also uninstalled Xmarks for FireFox, which I then re-installed and all is well.
I don't know if my problem was in having Xmarks running with both IE and FireFox, or maybe I made a mistake on the install for IE08.

Inappropriate? It wouldn't surprise me. I was fine for a long time with Firefox only. Things went bad when I installed it for IE8 and synced them together. I wound up finding the xMarks for IE in the Add/Remove Programs area, and now I'm xmarks free (for IE anyway...). Thanks for you explanation!
I’m happily Foxmarks for IE free!
