XMarks won't sync and passwords all gone...
My passwords in Firefox all disappeared - now XMarks won't sync even after reinstall and reentry of password info for XMarks - just keeps trying and saying "XMarks Currently Working" but no sync. Help! Running latest version of Xmarks and Firefox 3.0.10.

Inappropriate?I'm also having a similar issue with FFox 3.5B4. XMarks will prompt me for my username & password and once I enter them I get prompted for my password PIN. Once I enter that XMarks tells me that my passwords are all gone and asks if I would like to continue, cancel, or disable password sync. It happens every day and I have to import my passwords with another FF extension.
Is there a known issue with FF 3.5B4? -
Inappropriate?Sorry for the delayed response, everyone.
We've occasionally seen cases where Firefox crashes or is shutdown while writing to the password store, and this causes corruption to the point where Xmarks (and sometimes Firefox) can no longer read from the password store.
This can cause behavior similar to what everyone's describing here. I know of nothing in Firefox 3.5x that's any different from previous releases, and the best solution to work around it, in my experience, is to create a fresh Firefox profile and download your passwords from the Xmarks server (assuming you haven't already overwritten the server version with the empty password collection).
We're hoping to provide backup and restore features for passwords like what we have for bookmarks, but for now the best option is to find a Firefox instance that hasn't yet deleted all the passwords and upload to the Xmarks server.
We're definitely open to any evidence contrary to the above; if you find that Xmarks is causing password data to disappear (aside from synchronizing deletions from other computers), please let us know! -
In my case the problem appeared just after the last update. Perhaps it is not related but it may be worh investigating. Anyway, creating a new profile and retrieving the data from your server solved the problem.
