I installed the FriendFeed Facebook application - it worked for a while. Then it ceased to work : new entries seem not to be imported anymore and nothing from FriendFeed appears in the Facebook News Feed anymore.
I am not the only one to experience this : judging only from the wall and the forum of the FriendFeed Facebook application, there are dozen of users reporting the problem, and they are only the ones that complain - the number who experience it may be orders of magnitude higher.
FriendFeed has answered me, explaining that they are aware of the problem, and working on a fix.
FriendFeed explained me that the Facebook session key is no longer valid for some reason. By remove the FriendFeed application from Facebook, and then re-adding it, it was supposed to start updating again. But I tried that fix a couple of time and waited for a couple of days to see if any updates get through, but none did.
When commenting for the second time on an item in my home stream and both times choosing to also post it as a @reply on twitter, the second time it gets posted as a reply to myself on twitter instead of to the original twitter poster (as for the first comment).
I think more fine-grained control is needed about where items are posted. I added the friendfeed facebook app, and it seems really well-done.
I like the idea of having things in friendfeed automatically post to the facebook newsfeed. But I don't want *all* of it to go to the facebook newsfeed. I am very conscious about not spamming my friends, and I don't feel like everything I put on friendfeed should go to places like facebook. (One reason is that the friendfeed crowd is much more interested in web/tech kinds of subjects than the much bigger facebook crowd, which includes all these people I knew in high school etc).
I think if facebook users want to see everything on my friendfeed, they can look in the profile box, or on my friendfeed page. But it shouldn't all be broadcast to the facebook newsfeed.
My feed is getting a lot of duplicates since I post microblogs with ping.fm to many different services that I've added to my feed. This is causing headache to those who follow me. I think I'm just going to remove some of the services for a while, but I'd like friendfeed to recognize and remove duplicates. For example, if I post "I just saw the fail whale!" to both Twitter and Plurk, I'd like them to be grouped so that people following my feed won't get both of them showing up, but only one and maybe a link to the other post next to it. How about it?
There's currently only one nameserver for the friendfeed.com domain, namely ns53.domaincontrol.com, and this nameserver isn't entirely stable (at least not when seen from my network location). Good practice is to have at least one secondary nameserver. Could you please add an extra nameserver or two.
I entered my custom GMail address in the IM settings but i do not get the verification IM. Can you pleas check this issue? Or did I do something wrong?
I just up and grabbed the RSS feed from my dashboard page and added that as a "blog" to FriendFeed. Is that the preferred way to get it in to my account there or is there a better way?
I use Twhirl 0.8.6 on a Windows XP PC, and my default browser is Safari 3.1.2.
When I try to open an url from Twhirl, it opens a page in cache (file:///C:/Documents%20and%20Settings/...).
Of course, it works if the default browser is FireFox or Chrome.
I put the same question on Apple support.
I can get a feed of the comments that I make, but I can't seem to find a way to get a feed of all the comments that anyone else makes on items that *I* post.
I started feeding my FF into my Twitter account and everytime I share a link on Facebook, it posts it twice into my Twitter account. Not Good!
Here's what you should do. Have the app check and see if a comment is posted with the shared link. If there is, then post the comment and the shortened link. If not, then post the title of the shared link and the shortened link. Right now you're doing both and it's highly annoying to me and my followers.
I'm going to discontinue feeding my FF into Twitter until this is resolved. Hopefully you listen.
I import my Friendfeed to the Facebook Newsfeed. I use Friendfeed as the hub of my lifestreams, which I aggregate there and then redistribute to social sites such as Facebook. Amon my sources is the Brightkite service.
In Friendfeed, the Brightkite entries show up like :
You checked in on brightkite.com
Rue Linné, 75005 Paris
Very good.
The problem is that the same entry imported in Facebook will show up in the Newsfeed as :
Jean-Marc posted Rue Linné, 75005 Paris - Comment or View your FriendFeed ».
Baaad. A prefix such as "checked in" should be included instead of just the place name. With nothing like it, readers have no way to see that this is a check-in and not a blog post.
The body of entries in the Brightkite RSS stream mentions lines such as :
liotier checked in @ Rue Linné, 75005 Paris
So it is correct. It is actually the Friendfeed Facebook app that picks only the subject of the entry, instead of the body :
You: Rue Linné, 75005 Paris (via brightkite.com)
Which corresponds to what Facebook shows into the Newsfeed.
In summary, the problem is the compound of :
- The subject of a Friendfeed Brighkite entry not containing "checked in" as a prefix
- Friendfeed Facebook app picking only the subject of the entry.
So either :
- Alter the format of the Friendfeed Brighkite entries in the Friendfeed RSS stream to include "checked in" as a prefix
- or make the Friendfeed Facebook app pick the body of Brightkite entries instead of the subject.
For now, a Brightkite entry showed in Facebook via Friendfeed is confusing among the blogging and microblogging entries.
I mentioned this issue to Brightkite, and they acknowledge it - although they only promised to take a look at it. But the solution might rather be on the Friendfeed side.
Is there a way to search your twitter followers and following list for friendfeed users? It would be very handy, even if it just did it by username, as many people use the same username on twitter and on friendfeed.
I've removed Twitter from the services I have pumped into FriendFeed, but my tweets still appear on my FriendFeed page (http://friendfeed.com/mjkeliher). It's been about 24 hours since I removed Twitter from my list of FriendFeed services. Why is this still happening?
It's a problem because I'd like to take my RSS feed from FriendFeed and pump it into Twitter via TwitterFeed. But if FF is still importing my tweets, this creates a nasty, unending loop of Twitter messages.
every single Digg item in stream has maximum one (or none) picture to illustrate. Wish they are imported similar to Flickr items as single thumbnails. I guess they could be avail via API.
