@melmcbride I love PMOG for educators. Maybe we can brainstorm about making actual assignments.

Inappropriate?I don't know if it will be useful, but there will be soon new puzzle mission tools developed that would allow you to create missions where the runner would have to find the solution before progressing.
I’m just testing this twitter response thingy

Inappropriate? That's an excellent idea! Just what I had in mind -- students have to read texts and come up with some answer to a quiz to get to the next one. Also, Melanie had the excellent idea of students creating syllabus-based missions for each other and rating each other by giving each other points.

Inappropriate?Mel here - students can create missions and rate and the instructor can also evaluate a student's research this way. Research/bookmarking is an important part of my course - right now, all I have to evaluate them on is the end result (their delicious links). Thing is, most of them are not as enthusiastic bookmarkers as I am. So I see PMOG also functioning as a fun motivational tool for those less skilled/experienced/interested in surfing and bookmarking.
I’m excited

I think making education as fun as possible is an important aspect so IMO you have the correct take on this -
Inappropriate?db0 - what you say about the game structure above is precisely what educators have been asking for/talking about in relation to the challenge of assessment and evaluation of virtual spaces and gaming. What I like most about PMOG for education (beside the obvious FUN factor! :) is the fact that assessment is possible from peers, community and instructor. I'm wasting time here, clearly I should be developing a mission! I wonder if there might be some way of tagging educational PMOG missions in future? So that players could also contribute to the creation of shared curriculum?
I’m excited

Inappropriate?melmcbride, if you need to tag missions of educational content, just do it. PMOG already provides tag capabilities so all you need to do is tag yours (and any other appropriate mission) with an descriptive tag. As an example, here are all the missions tagged as "science"
If you have any specific idea that you think you might need in order to make this work, don't hesitate to create a new topic about it here.
And also don't forget to vote up ideas that you want if they are already here ;)
I’m glad I started this discussion
