Can I turn off mission lightposts?
Can I turn off mission lightposts?
I'm finding the popups very distracting as I'm trying to work, and would really love to be able to turn them off while still being signed into PMOG. At present, I simply sign out to get rid of them, but I have failed to find a way to just turn off the distraction while remaining signed in.
Anyone know if I can/how can I do this?

Hello Scott - If you're still following here, we have released a new version of the extension today: http://pmog.com/about/versions/#.410 and the content filtering system is working, according to my eye.
If you set your preference to 5 or 4, you should see very few pop-ups. Let us know if this helps! Thanks.
I’m excited for the new release!

you're right - we're building all this stuff this month. So you'll see the preference window taking shape, and the content being rated - now we're bringing those pieces together so you will only see as little or as much of pmog as you're interested in. We appreciate your patience and feedback here - hopefully we'll have the real system live shortly and you'll be seeing nothing more than 5 star stuff :-) right now it's still a loose framework that doesn't always or doesn't quite work.

This is a great question - thanks Scott. I have the same issue - there's sometimes too many Lightposts appearing. There are two things we have to help solve this problem:
* Dismiss Button
We have a "Dismiss" button at the bottom of events. Recently, that button has been acting up - things you dismiss have been returning. We're working on that bug!
Here's a picture of the Dismiss button, which should be working, but might not be at the moment:

* Content Rating
We're building a system of content rating for Portals and Missions. Players can rate Missions on their quality - 1-5 stars. Then each player can set the threshold of quality they want to see - only five star Missions, perhaps, if you want to be extra discerning. There are very few five star Missions. You can see them on the Missions page, under top-rated http://pmog.com/missions/ - same with only seeing 5 star Portals.

That graphic above shows how it should work, you can set that setting now. We should have all the filtering working, behind your choice, soon. Thanks for your patience; we hear you. We don't want to see too much stuff popping up in our browser as we're playing PMOG.
I’m working on it (tm)

Inappropriate?As an update, running in firefox 3 beta 4, setting my content filter doesn't actually work.
When I restart firefox it is set back to 0 in the preferences pane. -

Inappropriate?ah ha.
this is actually a poorly designed form. "OK" closes the xul window but does not save the form. There is actually a save button at the bottom of the scrollable form, which you probably didn't scroll all the way down to hit.
My suggestion would be to change the form so that whenever you make a new selection the server updates that result. So this preference form will need to be ajax-a-fied.
I’m sorry for the poor ui

Inappropriate?That was part of it heavysixer, but even after successfully saving my preferences I'm still getting a mission pop up on http://arstechnica.com that is only 3 stars.
