Account banned for comments; no offensive comments posted.
Why is my account disabled for commenting on Gizmodo? I haven't posted any offensive comments, as far as I can tell. I've seen others who are experiencing this same problem, while many worthless comments seem to come through on most articles. Your system seems to be arbitrarily banning accounts. My account is 'ducky'.

Inappropriate?I have this same problem. It just happened and I have no offensive comments posted. This is on Gizmodo under "MBPro".
I’m sad
-
Inappropriate? Some moderators are strict and ban right away instead of disemvoweling to give you a warning.
Please appeal your ban by emailing the site moderators.

This doesn't answer the question if the support team doesn't reply to messages. -
Inappropriate? That makes no sense. I am 100% sure I have posted no offensive posts in any way. There is no obvious way to contact moderators on the site.
I don't think I was legitimately banned by a moderator, I think the account was mistakenly banned. Check this site, how can so many first-time commenters get banned without any warning? Please fix this, it should not be this difficult to simply post a comment.

Inappropriate?I think someone is just ban happy on Gizmodo. I noticed no other Gawker Media blog seem to have this issue. It's sad that although The Consumerist advocates big companies to be fair, Gizmodo bans without giving any warning.
It looks like I was banned because I posted on a military post "how is this gadget related?". It wasn't even rude or anything but the post was about the crash in San Diego and had nothing to do with new technologies. Apparently Gizmodo has issue with criticism. If anything, the replies taught me that Gizmodo does have a military-based interest following but to ban me over that comment is pathetic.
As of right now I'm abandoning my old profile name and will be commenting through Facebook. I'm incredibly disappointed in Gawker Media for this incident, especially for the lack of customer support from Gizmodo. They DO NOT respond to e-mails. Not even just to let me know why I was banned.
Shame to alienate some of Gizmodo's (and Gawker Media's) most loyal readers. -
Inappropriate?I know Facebook Connect is now an option, but I don't want to connect my entire Facebook account, which has all my personal information on it, to Gizmodo. I just want to post short comments, it shouldn't have to be such a battle.
Between this and the intermittent performance of Gizmodo's mobile site, the quality of the blog seems to be really deteriorating.

Inappropriate?Ducky - This question has been marked as answered. Clearly nothing is going to happen. Like I said before, it's ironic that The Consumerist is part of Gawker Media when they can't answer our questions directly as to why we were banned nor does Gizmodo seem to respond to e-mails. It's pathetic and a bad reflection on all of Gawker Media.

Inappropriate?Ducky -- someone alerted me to the Applications tab in Facebook: you can disassociate your Gawker account from there.
-
Inappropriate? My account was banned as well. I've sent three messages, to no avail. Nobody has gotten back to me. I don't post frequently, and the stuff I do post is very tame.
I’m disappointed
