Does LifeHacker check apps for Malware before recommending them?

I love how LifeHacker recommends great little 3rd party apps and add-ons and shows you how to use them. However, I sometimes wonder if any of these apps might contain malware of some sort. Does LifeHacker check these downloads for spyware, adware, etc before recommending them?
