Email address not found in records, can't retrieve Gawker acct

I originally signed up for an account at the Gawker network of sites about a year ago. I was able to post comments (and did so) on Jezebel, Gawker, Defamer and Lifehacker. I recently went to comment at Gizmodo and was asked to login. I put in my username (yumpickles) and tried literally every password combination I've ever used in my life and none worked. When I clicked 'Get Help' I was asked to enter my email address. I was then told the email address could not be found in their records, so I tried every other email account I've used in the last 5 years, and none were in the Gawker user database.

I can only assume that when I signed up for the account originally, I didn't enter an email address. Since none of my passwords are working, I'm also going to assume I had to get a randomly generated password at some point and that's the problem.

I would really like to retrieve my account back. I tried connecting my account to Facebook but all that did was create a NEW account.
