Gawker sites shut down Firefox and stories are unable to load in Safari

I'm STILL have trouble loading almost every story on gawker or jezebel since the new comments were implemented. With Safari I get error messages about a slow script and I'm eventually forced to force quit. With Firefox, the browser shuts down as soon as I even navigate to the gawker or jezebel homepage. If it were just a matter of not seeing the comments, I could live with it, but I'm not even able to read the stories at all.
