Rape jokes are okay?
The editor of this post -- http://consumerist.com/5059840/reach-... -- made a very flippant remark about rape, which I feel was unprofessional and inappropriate. When a reader/commenter complained in the post (bria) she was basically bombarded with rude comments. Including this: http://consumerist.com/5066590/24-apr.... Another commenter/reader, when she/he complained about that comment, was told that "rape jokes are not against policy". How is this the case? How is it that people are not allowed to EVER blame the victim for ANYTHING ... and yet, rape jokes are allowed? And when people complain -- justifiably -- of said rape jokes, they get hammered and hammered and hammered? Honestly, this will probably cause me to stop using all Gawker media sites if appropriate action is not taken.
