Reply function *still* not working on Consumerist.com
Reply function still not working in Consumerist comments, or working only for some people. I believe this is week 3 of the problem.
Any chance this will ever be fixed? As a writer on the site, I really depended on this functionality to respond clearly to readers. You're breaking my heart here, Gawker.

Inappropriate?I am having this problem too.
But one question: I thought Gawker sold you guys? -
yes, gawker did, but consumerist remained on the gawker platform. gawker tech designed the site, and most likely, gawker tech has to fix the site. -
Inappropriate?I have this problem three.
-
Inappropriate? My problem is that it says comments loading and they never load on firefox. However If I open the same page on ie or chrome the comments load correctly.
I’m frustrated
-
Inappropriate? This is very frustrating. I click the reply link, and it bounces me to the top of the page.
Sometimes, I've just skipped making a comment, where I otherwise would have, had replying worked.
I’m frustrated
-
Inappropriate?I've tried using a different browser (Firefox 3, IE7, IE6), browsing from different PCs, logging in and out, and fiddling with my Gawker account, and no dice. This is incredibly frustrating and it's keeping me from using Consumerist the way I normally do.
I’m frustrated.

Inappropriate?i was having this problem for awhile in ff3, chrome & ie7. i downloaded the ADBLOCK PLUS add-on for ff3, subscribed to all the suggested lists & now i'm not having the problem anymore.
i'm thinking the issue may be with the CU ad content - either the coding of the ads themselves, or the coding of the adspace they exist in.
NOTE: this doesn't solve the missing preview box problem.

Inappropriate?I have this problem! And it sucks!
And this service sucks because you have to register and get spammed @o@
I’m pissed
-
Inappropriate?I have this same issue it just bounces me to top of page when I hit reply on any message.
I’m irritated
-
Inappropriate?I'm having this problem too. Just kicks me to the top of the page when I hit reply. And once I managed to get a reply box to open, but it added my comment to the wrong thread, wtf?
Also on FF, if it matters.
I’m really annoyed
-
Inappropriate?I have this problem. Sometimes it works but most the of the time it doesn't.
I’m patiently waiting for this issue to be resolved.
-
Inappropriate?I have this problem on consumerist, but all the reply functions seem to work on lifehacker and gizmodo.
I’m pissed!
-
Same. (Well, I can reply on Giz, but haven't tried Lifehacker.) -
of course they do! gawker can't be arsed to fix consumerist because they are being childish. there is really no excuse that it STILL doesn't work. none. nada. zilch. -
Inappropriate?Same problem on FF or IE. Reply works about 1out of 20 times.
-
Inappropriate? This is getting ridiculous. Gawker, fix the problem. There is no excuse whatsoever that we STILL have problems replying. None. Fix your crap, now.
I’m annoyed
-
Inappropriate?I HATE this problem. It is very frustrating to want to add something to a particular conversation, and know that it probably won't get read by anyone participating in that discussion, because it will end up several pages back as a new post and not as part of the discussion thread.
I’m irritated.
-
Inappropriate? This is quite annoying. It's worked briefly on a couple of occasions since the problem started, but for the most part it's just broken, Firefox3 or IE7, different computers (all XP though).
I’m annoyed
-
Inappropriate? This is BS! Get this fixed already. If Gawker won't step up, then CR/Consumerist needs to figure this out. Somebody take care of this.
I love Consumerist, but I find myself visiting less and less because of this. Sooner or later I'm going to stop visiting altogether if this doesn't get a fix.
I’m frustrated
-
Inappropriate?UGH. it's still happening! How is Gawker going to fix this if they don't own Consumerist.com anymore? Funny how the comments moderator on Consumerist sent me here. But again, if Gawker doesn't own Consumerist, why would they fix it? Who is going to fix this!?
I’m frustrated
-
Consumerist is still on the Gawker platform as part of the terms of the sale. In return for whatever CR paid for Consumerist, Gawker is providing them with the platform and "support" -
@Gearhead: So why aren't there like 10 Consumerist employees beating down the Gawker doors? Is this the only avenue for communicating problems to this paid support center? If so, that's the mother of all rip-offs. -
@Rhayader: I'm not even certain there ARE 10 Consumerist employees. ;) For all I know they are annoying the hell out of Gawker, but since Gawker's wholly-owned sites aren't experiencing the same problem, I'm guessing it's some quirk of the CR content that's exclusive to the Consumerist pages, and it's taking the geeks a while to either find the problem, or perhaps to find a way around it. While I haven't tried it, one of the postings here says that AdBlock in Firefox cures the problem... if that's generally true then it's something about the CR ads. -
Yeah see you're probably right; I have a feeling that "Gawker won't fix it" isn't the full story, and there are some politics and blame games and whatever else. Consumerist, CR, Gawker, whoever; they just need to fix this, yesterday. -
@GearheadGeek Gawker sites have the same problem, or at least they did. Jezebel seems to be fixed, but I'm not sure about the rest (refuse to read gawker since they posted the Rhianna picture multiple times). -
Inappropriate? It's annoying fer sure. Please to fix it!
These cupcake pictures are making me hungry.
I’m sticking my tongue out. Rude!
-
Inappropriate?I'm having the same issue as well. I access the Consumerist from a computer at work, where all I have access to is IE (joy...), but anytime I click reply, I get kicked back up to the top of the page. Also, I can't seem to get to my profile either from the top of the page...normally there's a "profile" button at the top, and I can't access that either. I don't know if it's a related issue, or if my screen name would help for this particular problem. But my screen name is Randa the Panda or Randapanda0283, whichever one decides to show up that day.
I’m sad
-
Inappropriate?Having it here on Firefox as well. It occasionally comes back for a very short period of time, but it keeps screwing up again.
-
Inappropriate?firefox, IE, two different computers, consumerist, lifehacker, gawker: no reply function, no preview, no 'my profile'
no luck with restarting the browser or refreshing.
i've gotten so frustrated that i barely comment at all anymore

catastrophegirl: try the adblock plus add-on for firefox. that worked for me. http://getsatisfaction.com/gawker/top... -
thanks, but i don't actually want to use an adblocker. i just want the site to work the way the latest redesign intends -
Inappropriate?Firefox.
I can write my own comment in the box, but if I try to reply to a comment, I'm kicked back up to the top of the page.

Inappropriate?CLosing this ticket -- it was fixed a while ago.
