"The image associated with this post is best viewed using a browser." in google reader for all gawker media sites. Images used to appear fine in google reader, now as of last night I see that message for almost all posts. Embedded video appears ok, as do images in google reader. Only seems to be happening with gawker media sites and consumerist. Whatever you guys did please fix!

Inappropriate?I noticed this happening to a few posts on kotaku and possibly gizmodo today in my feedreader. I think I've seen it in the past, but never nearly as frequently as I saw it today. I was willing to dismiss it, but seeing this question posted makes me think it's a valid concern.
-
This is happening more and more constantly as the night goes on, apparently. For instance, every image in Gizmodo's "remainders" post tonight got this treatment. -
Inappropriate?Same thing here. I'm an avid Google Reader user & Gawker site reader. This definitely happened right after the recent site changes.
I’m unpleasantly disoriented
-
Inappropriate?Same thing in iGoogle.

Inappropriate?Same issue for me. It's been happening since the new comments system was introduced. I noticed it first on Deadspin, then Giz. Finally Lifehacker just now.
I’m frustrated

And then when you go to their site, if you're using IE, your browser freezes, fails to load the page, or crashes! There's more evil here than meets the eye. -
I think the greater evil here is the fact that youre still using IE, despite all of the security holes.
hopefully the gReader problem gets fixed- it seems to be more of a Lifehacker problem, rather than Google -
Inappropriate?I think it has to do with recent site changes. Lifehacker just changed the commenting structure and this seemed to start at the same time. I realize they want RSS readers to visit the site to see their ads, and I do- if the article merits interest and discussion. That initial link is pretty annoying though.

Yeah but there's ads embedded in the rss feed, at least when I view the sites in google reader. Have been for ages. What more do they want? -
they want you to view the ads twice. moneymoneymoney. not that i mind greed, but give me a real reason to click through. don't just hide the pics, it's silly. -
Inappropriate?i agree, it's to get you to go to the site. maybe they're tired of paying the bandwidth to load images other than at their own ad associated sites. i wouldn't be irritated as much but saying "The image associated with this post is best viewed using a browser" is a lie. it's good for THEM so i see their ads and they don't have to pay for the bandwidth but it's certainly not BEST and has *nothing* to do with how the image renders.
I’m irritated

Inappropriate?adam pash says it's not intentional, and their looking to fix it... after i complained a couple of times to every gawker site via twitter. see http://twitter.com/adampash/status/25...
I’m frustrated

Inappropriate?Chalk up one more gReader who's not happy. If it were all images, I could tolerate the inconvenience as a necessary evil. But interior images and inserted ads still come though fine. It's only the headline image that gets this text-replacement treatment.
-
Inappropriate? The RSS feed for all sites is fixed. This message only appears when there are very large images in the post.
