You are loading too slow, it's getting annoying enough to not bother.
It addition to my response to the comment about the submit button not working, I'd like to point out that whatever recent change was made, causes VERY slow loads of posts, and sometimes completely causes the comments to time out. I've tried to pay attention as to what is being loaded when this happens, but it seems to vary. The only thing I can think of is where you're pulling your adds.
Perhaps you would know more about what has changed, but it really is very slow, and almost annoying to deal with. F5 multiple times SOMETIMES works, so I'm guessing it's not Gawker itself that is causing the problem, but perhaps where they are digging their adds.

Inappropriate?Have you recently cleared your cache and deleted your cookies?
-
Inappropriate?Have you also tried hitting ctrl-f5? The usually makes the page completely reload from the site and not from cache.

Inappropriate?I've tried all the fixes mentioned above, have blocked flash and am now having to give up on Gawker. As soon as I open the site, my browser slows to an unbearable crawl. No other site does this. As soon as I close the Gawker tab, everything else gets back to normal speed. Weird. I run Firefox on an iBook G4.

Inappropriate?Has the problem gotten *worse* since the redesign launched last week?
-
Yes, definitely worse since the redesign. I used to have no problems with the Gawker site. -
Inappropriate?I have noticed that Gawker's recent redesign is massively resource-intensive on my computer. I too am running Firefox on a G4 and having multiple tabs open to Gawker sites pins my CPU and sucks up memory like no other non-video sites. Whatever Gawker's doing, it's a huge computational mess unless you've got the latest and greatest equipment.

AGREED. -
Inappropriate? This problem has been killing me too. Happens with both Firefox 3.0.5 and IE 7. One thing that stands out as strange for me is the status bar in Firefox will display static.ak.connect.facebook.com while the page is trying to load. Once the page is loaded I never see any ads or links that reference anything related to facebook.
-
I see that a lot too, it has to do with being linked to facebook now, but it sure does slow things down. -
Inappropriate? We will be rolling our some modifications in an effort to resolve this. We are aware of the problem.

Inappropriate?This issue was resolved.

Every site on the Gawker network brings my browser to a standstill when loading a page. I have to wait 10-15 seconds for a page to fully load - keep getting "A script on this page is causing Mozilla to run slowly. If it continues to run, your computer may become unresponsive. Do you want to abort the script?" The problem is solely confined to Gawker sites. -
Inappropriate?how is this problem SOLVED?! it is still so incredibly SLOW. all the images won't load. please check cache-foo. this problem is NOT solved.
I’m pissed
-
Charlotte - it came back? What browser/OS combination are you using? -
Inappropriate?Vista (home) os XP (work) and occasionally either IE 6 or 7 (flash content) but mostly K-Meleon (Mozillabased).
Thanks for getting back so quickly! -
I use K-Meleon without flash because it makes it FAST
