Couldn't move in, Deposit, Rent, nothing returned!
We are currently in a court case with a landlord which Gerrard Forbes are the agents for. Gerrard Forbes promised a wonderful refurbished property. It did not happen. After delaying our move-in date for weeks whilst we were left homeless, with false promises they would get work done, or at least give us the keys (we have since found out they were lining up new tenants) they forced us to sign a surrender agreement. This was on the agreement that our rent, deposit, admin and inventory fees all paid in advance would be returned. They were not (it has been months now). We have never been treatly so badly and rudely in our lives. We would go to the office every day asking for keys or where our money was, and phoned constantly, but they would always fob us off with more lies and delays. Do not believe a word they say and never ever do business with them. It is my belief that there business is barely legal, let alone offering any sort of standards.

Inappropriate?Be persistent and keep at it. That worked for me. They gave me my money back eventually, after about 45 polite phone calls and 3 polite visits. I was approaching breaking point but still remained calm. Eventually they gave me a cheque.
One thing you could try is visiting them and for each time they fob you off when you visit, tell the customers there at the time that a) they're terrible about returning your money and b) to visit this website if they don't believe you. I'm fairly sure they'll deal with your problem sharpish if you put off their potential customers.
That was my next plan of action if they continued to stall, but they did, to their credit, give me my money back eventually. -

i have the exact same problem and i thought it's best if i get in touch with other tenants who share the same problem. the two guys who are in the 'illegal' partnership - akil and sam are really up to something. technically, even if gerrard forbes has vanished or become liquidated, it does not mean that we as tenants should lose our deposits because our deposits are meant to be protected, as per the tenancy agreement, and they cannot be used to pay off gerrard forbes' debt to their creditors. so technically, they are in the wrong.
what i think we should do is to contact their administrator/liquidator which i am still figuring out how to, and proceed from there. these two guys are complete bull, they keep on telling me i won't get my deposit back.
