"Import" companies from twitter and Google Groups
Hi Get Satisfaction team,
I've got an idea, that resembles the contact import/invitation from popular services like Yahoo!, Facebook and GoogleMail. It is just, that it's for companies & products! :)
Maybe I'm an exception, but the way I do follow companies except for their blog is by adding them to a special twitter account (if they've got a twitter account) and/or to my Google Groups (if they got such). This concerns mainly Open-Source or Open Web (OWF) / Data Portability companies or standards.
Now I'd like to somehow "grab" the names of these groups or/and twitter usernames (or more likely descriptions) and to put them in a "magical search process", which presents me in the end all the companies I follow on twitter and/or Google Groups, that are registered here with their own space! :)
That's of course a really new concept, I don't think anyone was so creative (or insane :D) to put something like that into practice. ^_^
I'd be interested to hear from you, if you think that would be too much of a work effort (especially compared to the number of people that would use it) or if this is an interesting idea?
Thanks for your feedback and your work, I appreciate it! :)
Kind regards.

Inappropriate? It's actually a very interesting idea. We are increasingly keeping track of the official Twitter accounts of companies and so I can imagine mapping them to GS company when people to a Twitter contacts import. I'd want to get a better sense for how many people follow brands on Twitter in this way before we spent the time to develop this, but it's a cool idea for sure.
I’m interested

Inappropriate?Hi Thor, thanks for your answer, nice that you use twitter that way too. I'm not sure, but I think mainly companies or loose groups like e.g. Barcamps keep track of each another, see e.g. here:
http://twitter.com/barcamp
My company following account is here:
http://twitter.com/grunwaldp
Mostly, the normal twitter users mix this up it seems. Often they are following several hundred or thousand twitterers, I don't know how or why they are doing that. I choose whom I follow wisely and my twitter account mirrors mostly the companies registered here, as far as they do have a twitter account.
I'm not sure how you will get this better sense, but I think this is a good idea.
If I can help with this in any way, just contact me.
I’m thankful

Inappropriate?it works fine - but I had to click about 50 times to add all the contacts. Why not adding a button "add all" or alternative "check all" => checkboxes. Thank you a lot.
