"Some HTML allowed"?

my guess is 99 precent have no idea what's this:

has to do with this, this or this.

then I ask: why bother? why you allow html when it's actually being used in less than 1% of the time? you should decide where you're heading with this. "html allowed" is to techie for a user community message board.

rich text editing can help make a point, much like these :) :p :( do.
in my opinion you should make it more easy for everyday use.

i think a good solution will be that every time you highlight a text, a small tooltip box will appear above your selection, much like iphone's cut/paste theme. you could then easily choose between bold, italic, underline or link - which will ask you for a url.

you already have a nice "add an image" box (although it could use some refresh). why not upgrade it so it could also embed movies from youtube/etc?
