ROhan, Can you tell us where you downloaded the Help Center package from? The error you're getting suggests a mangled or out-of-date Help Center bundle.

wierd. I just ran the following sql and things seem to work now

update site_settings set configured='Y';

but when I try to login to my dashboard (http://help.bumsonthesaddle.com/user-...) I get the same error

Failed to fetch OAuth request token from getsatisfaction.com.

ok .. reverted the above mentioned setting. Looks like that short circuited some other installation procedures.

What do I do now ?

Hi ROhan, you're right that you shouldn't set that flag to 'Y' as it will skip past part of the initialization phase and the problem will still be there.

So, let's verify this: You have, in your config.php file, lines beginning with $oauth_consumer_key and $oauth_consumer_secret, and these lines set those variables to the correct strings. And in your site_settings database table, you have just one row and in it, the columns oauth_consumer_key and oauth_consumer_secret are null. Is that correct?

Meanwhile, your problem seems sufficiently unusual that I wonder if you haven't got a corrupt download. Have you tried making a fresh download and install?

Erza - the config files have the info. (im guessing its the correct info.) Now I have this info in the DB. Nope. Have created multiple downloads with multiple versions, same issue.

I'm going to pursue Scott's lead of testing with PHP 5.1.6 to see if that makes a difference. Will try to get back to you as soon as possible.

OK, I just tried it with 5.1.7 and didn't have the problem.

ROhan, when I access http://help.bumsonthesaddle.com/ I get an error saying that the browser couldn't find the server. It appears that the host help.bumsonthesaddle.com is not in the public DNS. I wonder if you could make that available, or put Help Center at another address, so that I could have a look myself?

tried registering a new application with getsatisfactioin so that I get a new key and secret. Did not work either.

Any idea how I can test this OAuth stuff ? I dont understand how this is working for you and not for me.

Sorry this is still causing trouble; I'm not sure why this problem is happening for you and not for others. So far it doesn't sound like you're doing anything wrong as such.

It's possible there's something strange about PHP 2.1.6 in particular that's causing the trouble. I'll try to install that over the next couple of days to test it.

Is there any possibility you could upgrade to the latest version of PHP?

can i test the OAuth stuff ? Some small scripts etc which can make sure that authentication is indeed happening from the server ? or not ?

OK, just walked through this with PHP 5.1.6 and it was able to do the authorization, so we can rule out the version number as the problem.

damn. How else can I test this ? Looks like there is something wrong with the OAuth a0uthentication. I tried irb to connect using the credentials and things seem ok.

Any way I can script and test the php bit to make sure the OAuth process is ok ?
