Inappropriate?Hi, Ian. In fact, yes. We have a number of organizations and projects in our system that, while they're aren't strictly speaking companies, share enough of the features of companies (a focus on a goal, a community of users/customers) that Get Satisfaction works well for them.
We have non-profits, civic institutions, open source projects, and we'd love to have your Firefox add-on! What's it called?

Inappropriate?Hi Lane, I'm working on an addon I call Searchery: http://searchery.ianloic.com/
I'm polishing up the first version and even the sneak peek I posted got a bunch of feedback. I realised that email probably isn't the best way to manage the conversation.
I'm not a non-profit or even an open-source project, I'm just me. Should I put "Ian McKellar" as my company and "Searchery" as my product? That seems a little vain :)

Inappropriate? This is actually a good point. I've been wondering how you classify "companies" that are not companies like one-man projects, open source projects and the like.
Perhaps, in the same way that you have "products" and "services" you could also have categorization for these. Can't think of any particular name at the moment I'm afraid.
Alternatively you could allow projects to be autonomous and not tied to any company.
I’m wondering about the same thing as well

Inappropriate?i'd go with "searchery" as the company and "searchery" as the product, too. then once your claim to your area has been approved, in the admin section, there's an option to set a "primary" product for your company, which means every post in your company will have that product associated with it. you should set that to your one product.
for "companies" with just one product, like yours, that's the ideal route -- it means every topic will be associated with your company and with one product. going forward, we have some ideas about how to rearrange our system to make products more primary, so that this will be less of an issue. we're just starting our thinking there, so updates on that as we get somewhere with it.
