Can two user accounts be merged?
Scenario: A user has never been in GS before. We are using Fast Pass, so users can log into our company client portal and then get to GS to enter their idea. A user goes into the client portal and then into GS and enters their idea. They noticed the URL, so later they try to go straight to the GS page to log in (bypassing the client portal). They cannot enter with their client portal PIN because they are not going through Fast Pass. They don't really have another password. They try to set up a new account, but cannot do so becaus there is already an account with their email address. So, it appears the user MUST go through the client portal and Fast Pass to enter anything.
Question: What happens if they set up an account with a second email address? I'm assuming they wouldn't see the ideas they entered under the first email address. Would they be able to merge their two accounts?

Inappropriate?Hi Cindy,
We can not easily merge two user accounts. It's best for users to select the one they want to keep and close the other one.
As for your scenario... I'm going to pull someone in with more expertise around Fastpass to respond. -
Inappropriate?Fastpass works both ways: a logged-in user coming from your system gets logged into GS effortlessly, and if they come into GS first then we can prompt them to login to your system first so that they can use the same credentials. This way there is little chance they will create a new account.
However, if they *did* try to create an account with the same email address outside of the Fastpass system, then we notify them that the email is already in use. We ask them to confirm they are the owner of that email, and then tie their "new" account to their Fastpass identity. Put simply, as long as they use the same email address they maintain a single account no matter if they come in through Fastpass. Email is a unique key in our system.
Hopefully that wasn't too confusing. The actual user experience is quite simple :)

Inappropriate? How do we turn on this functionality? When I test this, I don't see these prompts. I just see the message that the email is in use.

Inappropriate? Thanks Thor. As Pattie asks though, how do we turn on this prompt to tell people to login to our system first? We have it set up so that people can log into our system and will automatically be in Get Satisfaction too. But, if they later decide to go straight to Get Satisfaction we would love to prompt them to log in through our system. We just don't know how to set that up!

Inappropriate? On the Fastpass setup page in your admin area you can add a Login URL. Simply enter the location of your login page and make sure you have the fastpass script tag on your login success page. The login page will be a popup and the script tag will set the fastpass and close the window at the right time.
I'm working on a screencast that will demonstrate this.
