Delayed email notifications
Email notifications seem to be delayed by 4-5 hours. Here is a specific reply that took 5 hours before I received the email notification:

Since this question was time sensitive, it's particularly important that we're notified of the question and they receive the response notification right away.

Inappropriate?On this thread, I responded as soon as I got the email notification, but it was 3 hours after the user's original post. You can see that the user came back after an hour to leave another comment about how urgent it was for him.

Inappropriate?I have noticed the same problem. I think 5 hours is a bit high, but I haven't been paying close attention to the timeframe. Some are very quick (within a minute, like before), but some do take quite a few hours. I'll keep an eye out for a future one and email it to you you, Scott.

Inappropriate?This is happening more and more often. Now, it feels like some notifications aren't even received at all. My company prides ourselves in our quick replies to posts on GS, but I am finding it necessary refresh our GS page rather than rely on email notifications. I hope you find out what the issue is a provide a fix soon.

The problem is related to our background job servers... I've got some time scheduled over the holiday break to fix it, but unfortunately things will continue to fluctuate until then. I'll update you again when I get some solid time to work on a fix.

Inappropriate?I have recently noticed delays before receiving the email notification of a question asked. It hasn't been hours; more like tens of minutes. Nevertheless, it is less than ideal since we want to be super-responsive to our customers.

This topic still hasn't generated a mail though it was asked "1 hour ago".
I only noticed it because it has showed up in the RSS feed.

Old thread, but I think that this issue may have returned. Over the past few weeks I've seen (up to) 5-8 hour delays on e-mails. It's certainly not every reply, but some. If you need anything from me, feel free to reply or email me.
