delete posts
How do I delete posts located in my own company? I'm brand new to this service and learning how it works.

That is correct: Admins cannot delete or otherwise change or censor user comments. Because this is a thread of conversations, we want to preserve responses and not delete content.
For your other question: you can uncheck an official response if you like. You can even have more than one official response. If you've updated an official response, uncheck the old one and indicate the new one -- that's one way to tackle it. The idea is to show the actual conversation as long as it goes on -- as much transparency as possible.
And, about flagging: When anyone flags content, people at Get Satisfaction -- me, and others here -- weigh it as potential spam, as inappropriate, as crass commercialism, etc., and try to come to the best conclusion we can. We do remove some content, but we try to avoid this -- again as much transparency as possible.
The idea is that you give up control to reap the rewards of more -- and more authentic -- contact with customers.
I’m hoping this helps at least a little

Inappropriate?Essentially, if you've started a topic, you have 15 minutes to edit it.
This answer also might help you: http://getsatisfaction.com/satisfacti...
As an addition, we're very focused on transparency and openness, but we do sometimes remove posts that are flagged as spam or inappropriate or crass commercialism.
Let me know if this helps, or how I can help you out more.

Inappropriate?Hi Eric,
Thank you for the reply, but it does not seem an answer to my question.
I got the part about editing threads I started, which is great. My question is about deleting (meaning: moderating, and yes, silencing) people who post items we don't want in the forum for my company. I'm interested in the threads and posts from other people, that appear right below our logo, and appear in the widget on the site.
After reading around on the site, and from what I interpret from your answer, I think, if I understand correctly, the answer to what we want to do is: "you can't". I'll be explicit: As an admin of a section, I cannot delete posts that other people have made in that section. Is this accurate?
Also, let me make sure I understand: Users have 15-minute window to edit a post they make, but after that the user is not allowed to change it. Does this apply even for posts in the section for which the user is an admin/rep? Admins/reps cannot go back and edit posts or "official replies" later. Please verify this is accurate. What happens when the situation changes and the content in the post is no longer correct? Do we flag our own content?
Also, when a post is flagged, how do we review those? When you say "we" - who is that? Is this something that GetSatisfaction team reviews for us? I guess I'm missing some basic things about how this is supposed to work.
Thanks!
I’m undecided

Inappropriate?I see one use case where this is an issue. We happened to be testing the service over at Conduit Labs and so we made a bunch of test posts before we realized that we could not delete posts. Now there are a bunch of bogus/joke posts under our own company.
-
I'll remove those for you. I see your flags. Thanks for flagging! I'll remove them for you. -
Inappropriate? One of our employees posted a "test" topic which we can't remove. Could someone remove it for us?

Thanks,

Inappropriate?I also see this as an issue. I have been making test posts within my forum, and as an admin, would like to be able to remove them freely. And what about spam? Shouldn't I be able to delete spam entries as well?
I vote that admins get to delete posts as needed. Thanks.
I’m frustrated

Inappropriate? You can remove topics using the moderation tools. If you don't have those, flag topics as Inappropriate, and our moderation folks will remove them for you. We try to be prompt about removing those.

Inappropriate? Thanks for the tip Eric. Hope that didn't come across as snippy, obviously the service you guys are offering is top notch and I'm pleased to be able to use it.
Cheers,

Inappropriate?Hmmm, this is a problem because our lawyers just called us about a libelous comment/post using this system. http://getsatisfaction.com/sunjournal...
While we (we are a newspaper) don't want to censor, we also don't want to get sued, and I'm sure your company will be named in the suit as well.
Some kind of administrative tool for deleting comments is not only responsible, it's the smart thing to do.
-
Pattie: I think you mean "potentially libelous" based on your lawyers' opinions -- unless you're able to refer me to a settlement document. As a former newspaperman (including work for a legal newspaper), I believe there is still a very big difference, even on the Internet.
Please note that employees can remove any topic with the moderation tools. Also, we remove topics if you don't have those tools. Also, we have community guidelines, terms of service, and will abide by properly filed DMCA take-down notices. We follow legal precedents and do our best to be smart and behave responsibly. I will take a look and do my best to help.
