Does Get Satisfaction support Trac, SVN, Bugzilla, etc?
Does Get Satisfaction tie in to Trac, SVN, bugzilla, basecamp, or other bug tracking software? Is there a way to import problems into a feature request repository?

Alan,
Thanks for the question. We don't currently, but all is not lost. Our API is super easy to use (well, IMO :)).
For example, if you wanted to get an Atom feed of all of the problems in twitter, you would simply go to http://api.getsatisfaction.com/compan...
If you prefer working in JSON, simple request topics.json?style=problem instead of just topics.
If I have my way during the design process, we'll eventually see things like user script integration and other tools so that the savvy user's of our site can customize to their hearts content. We aren't there yet, but we will get their as time goes along.

Inappropriate?I'd love to see someone throw together some bookmarklets that make importing an issue to any of those systems as easy as clicking. Our markup is semantic so you should be able to pull it right off the page in a structured form and drop it into your system.
I’m hopeful
-
Sounds like a good idea -
I'd use the bookmarklet. Sounds like an awesome idea. -
Inappropriate? On a related note, it would be nice to connect Trac to GSFN, as described here: http://gsfn.us/t/jxo
-
Inappropriate? We just posted a bookmarklet for easy importing of GS topics into Trac. You can get it by going into your admin section and clicking on the Tools link in the right-hand navigation box. Or edit this link: http://getsatisfaction.com/YOUR-COMPA...
I’m happy
-
Yay! I'm a big fan of the bookmarklet. -
Inappropriate?Hey Thor, the bookmark is very slick, thanks! One question though...
Currently the bookmarklet workflow is this:
1. Click "add to trac"
2. Edit fields in the bookmarklet-provided form and click "post"
3. Edit the same fields in Trac's form and click "create ticket"
'Seems like it would be better to skip step #2 and just take the user directly to their trac ticket creation page... not that I'm complaining, mind you.
I’m amused
-
I think you're probably right. Consider this a beta release of the bookmarklet. -
Inappropriate?I like the idea of the Trac bookmark. However, it doesn't work for me. Does this thing require GS to have access to it (It's password protected)? When I click on the bookmark, I get a popup with all the fields correctly filled, but when I click Post, the popup disappear and nothing happens (nothing is added to Trac).
I’m confused
-
Virgil: I think you need to be logged into Trac to use the bookmarklet. Trac is big on logging you out (believe me, I know!). Let me also query others at Get Satisfaction about this. -
Oh, I'm logged in alright. I've got trac opened in a separate tab. So this is supposed to work then. Should I rather add a "problem" topic? -
Yes, that would be very helpful. Let's focus on it and make sure it's not a bug. Mention your browser, too. Thank you! -
Inappropriate?Great idea! I hope someone puts together a Bugzilla bookmarklet.
-
it's on the to do lost! -
Thor: I can create a bugzilla url that does what you want, if you can write the JS to put the text where it belongs. I suspect I could modify the trac bookmarklet, and will give that a shot in a moment.
Edit: Wow, what the heck? I thought you used a modified really long URL, but you've done something completely different. Which elements do your script populate? -
Thomas, we can still use a long encoded url. I'd love to take you up on your offer for a Bugzilla url. If you just send me what the formatting looks like we can automate the rest. -
Inappropriate? What about attaching to a preexisting ticket? I am trying to triangulate problems, from Trac, usability testing, and GSF.
And why doesn't the description include a link?
Is there any sort of crazy, wild guess on a timeline for integration?
Thanks,
-Zach
I’m sad that GSF isn't as polished as I want it to be.
-
Good point about existing tickets. I'll see what other folks here think about including that kind of deeper integration. -
Eric: I'll be happy when you can merge threads instead of just posting "Stop, this is a duplicate issue to another thread" (which is still pretty good, though, too bad it's not free) -
Zach,
Actually, the description does post a link back to the Get Satsfaction topic. You should see it in the Trac field once you click submit.
We rely on Trac's ability to pass in new ticket information via the URL. As far as I know this option doesn't exist for adding information to an existing ticket, which is why that isn't an option today. We'd certainly love to add it, but require a path of low resistance.
What do you mean by "timeline for integration?"
