E-mail notifications only for topics I started
I get too many e-mails from you. As mentioned in another thread, this is annoying mostly because I need to login each time I click on the "stop following" link. Really, though, I don't want to stop following it, I just want to stop the e-mails. I want to see it on my dashboard, but not in my Gmail.
Right now we only get "Send me email at my primary email address about new replies on topics I have posted, replied to, or followed" in the notification options. This is not good enough.
I want to get all replies to topics I started (because it is something I care about), but I don't care enough about something I replied to once in passing nine months ago. In other words I want a separate option for topics I posted vs. topics I follow.
Or...
On second though, maybe let's change the definition of "follow". To "follow" a topic means to get e-mails about it. ALL topics you are involved with -- whether or not you are "following" them -- will be shown on the dashboard on the website, but only the topics that you "follow" will send e-mails.

Inappropriate?I like the idea of more options for getting email notifications. The slit that you mention sounds like a good solution. I'll see what other folks here think about this, and I hope anyone else with an opinion about it weighs in, too.
