gmail contacts import not working?
importing my contacts from gmail gave me a "can't get no satisfaction" error and suggested I report it, so here it is.

Inappropriate?I'm on it. Give me a second to diagnose.

Inappropriate?Giacomo,
Does the gmail importer take you to gmail first, and then fail? Or does it fail right when you click on "Go to gmail"?
This would really help me track down the bug. Thanks for helping out.

this happens AFTER I grant from gmail. -
Inappropriate?Hi Giacomo,
Unfortunately, I wasn't able to find the source of the error. What I am doing, though, is putting a better error logging mechanism into the Gmail import so that the next time it happens i *will* be able to catch it.
I'll be putting that logging into place tonight, probably about 5 hours from now (midnight in my time zone), after that it would be great if tomorrow you could try again.
It looks to be something specific with the addresses that it is pulling from your account, and I unfortunately cannot duplicate it with my own address book.
Thanks again for reporting this issue, hopefully I'll be able to get it resolved quickly after I update the logging.

Inappropriate?Hey there, I totally understand. I just tried again and had no problem. Good and bad I guess...I'll let you know if it happens again.
I’m unsure but happy

Inappropriate?Thanks!

Inappropriate?Hey Scott, some more feedback for you. I went through the handshake process and chose my Google Apps address rather than Gmail per se. I then got the same error described by Giacomo.
Out of sheer curiosity (I'm a developer, too) I happened to take screenshots, so I can tell you that it was trying to redirect me to /people/nzadrozny/invitations/gmail_return/1474 in case that helps.
Nice job tying in with Google's API rather than asking users for a password!
I’m sympathetic

Inappropriate? Also fwiw, I ran through with a normal @gmail.com account and it worked fine.

Inappropriate?Awesome stuff.
I do in fact seen the back trace in our error log. It looks like it should be a pretty simple fix.
Thanks so much for the help!
I’m thankful

Inappropriate?Alright, I've checked the fix in for that particular problem, and i'll probably deploy it tonight or tomorrow. Thanks again!
