I submited a claim to my own company that I created and was told to wait 2 buiness days for verification.
As a developer and IT consultant I find this to be a posssibility for malicious exploit.
The company profile is live, but the data is worng.
What stops someone from setting up a profile for a global company, a brand, an important person, and pointing the company url to a pornographic website?
The company will be live with destructive data - this is gorrila war fare SEO.
GetSatisfaction.com if you want to be Authoritative, you should not make company profile live untill you have made verification with the owner, if the editing process is not allowed untill verification has been made.
I fcame here because Adam Lasnik is part of the network, but I am a bit disapointed in the beta development.

Great feedback, and I am happy to say that companies that have been added are NOT promoted publicly until they've been verified by our internal process. No one is being pointed to your company page with the errant data--only you have this url. To this end we confirm the verity of any urls submitted, the nature of the business, etc. After all, our reputation is on the line here, too! There are numerous companies added that never become public.
However, we do allow the creator (or those who know the url) to add products and topics while we do our behind-the-scenes work.
As for confirming business claims the "up to 2 business day" wait is also a function of the process we use to confirm the association of the claimer with the company. Sometimes this can happen in a few minutes, and sometimes it can take a few days. The length of time is usually a function of the method we have to use to verify--one size does not fit all, alas.
