We don't allow deleting products at the moment.
We're adding back in the ability to flag a product for review, such that abusive of spam products can be removed. -
-
P.S. We can remove the product for you if noone else has used it.

2Yeggi, what's the reason for wanting to delete the product/service?
We're gathering info about how/why people use the system, and it would help us to understand why you want to delete the product so that we can understand all the potential possibilities we need to support. -
-
I don't know about Yeggi's reasons :), but I accidentally started a product called free when i meant to start one called free and clear laundry detergent. It would be great to have the option to remove that mistyped product myself

That's a great point. People should be able to delete products that they themselves have added--I've been known to add in typos on occasion. Or maybe we confirm the product before it's formally added...
Design team, take it away! -

-
-
actually, question: would a 15 minute delete window for a product (similar to the 15 minute edit/delete window for new topics and replies) work in this instance? did you notice the mistake right away?
-
-
I accidentally created a duplicate product: http://getsatisfaction.com/cbcradio/p...
Could you please remove it, and leave the one titled simply "Spark?"
Thanks! -
-
-
-
Editting a product would be great! I frequently put in some data to test new apps, and I'd like to edit it afterwards before I use it for real.
-
-
Right now a product image and description are editable, the only thing that isn't editable is the name (and as mentioned products aren't deletable). Currently the name isn't editable because it's directly tied to the URL. Making it freely editable is a development issue that might take some time to fix.
So in the meantime we could make it more apparent that the name and creation of a product *won't be easy to change*.
(It might be fun to have a play-ground where people can create and test freely.) -
-
I accidentally added a service in "remember the milk" which of course has nothing to do with them. That's the point of add a "delete" option (only if you are the one who added it).
Anyway, can you delete the product I added to "remember the milk" by mistake? Thanks a lot! -

oinutsik - is that the zehebar service?

Done. Thanks for the head's up on that.

Oinutsik- did you notice the mistake right away, or some time after creating the product? (Nice geta by the way!)

Has deleting a product been enabled? Can't seem to find it.

I’m
glad we're one step closer. We'll get there eventually.
Not for users yet. However, the Satisfaction community managers have now been given the ability to delete products so let us know what needs to be deleted and we'll look into for you. I'm actually on maternity leave now but you can email our new community manager, Eric, about it. eric [at] getsatisfaction [dot] com. -

Hi Eric. Could you please delete http://getsatisfaction.com/connectedf...
The reason I need it deleted is because it's no longer my company's product.
Thanks. -

I think admin's should have the right to delete products.
Anyone can create a product and what if they create one that is not a product of the company. This seems like a basic function to me. I don't know why you wouldn't have it. -
-
-
oh. did not look there. Is there a limit to the number of reply before a product is "locked"?

There is, but I am unsure of the exact number. I believe it is around five.

I created the company, "JapanSoc" and following other examples, I added products for "JapanSoc.com", "Blog" and "FAQ", the 3 main components of the company. However, now I realize that it will confuse users because they won't know whether to start a topic in the main "JapanSoc" section, or for the product "JapanSoc.com". Of course, I should have realized this before creating the product, but too late now. I'd like to delete the "JapanSoc.com" product, but I've not yet been approved as an employee and I'm assuming that's why I have no Admin panel and can't delete the product I created? Thanks in advance for your help.
-
Sorry for the delay in approving your claim. We try to do it quickly, but it can take a few days. I've approved your claim, so you should be able to get into the admin section.
-
-
You guys work very quickly, thank you! I see in Admin I can set a product as a default for all topics, so no need to delete it after all. :)

Actually I found that some products you cannot delete even if they don't have any topics associated. After some testing (this is what I do at work anyways) I found that the products that have Related Companies associated to them cannot be deleted, regardless of topics. When they didn't have Related Companies associated they could be deleted.
Products should be deletable by admins when they don't have any topics associated, regardless of Related Companies. Furthermore, Related Companies should be deletable from products. -

I would like to remove a couple of products from our system. Can someone please tell me who to contact at GS to get this done since it sounds like it's still a manual process?
-
-
I'm surprised this is still a little mysterious. I've got some products that I can delete, and others that I can't, but there's no explanation available for why this is, and what can be done about it.
We created a Product for the beta testing of a new service, and once the service launched, we created a new Product for it. Now we'd like to delete the old Beta product, so that our users can clearly see which product to report their issues against. However I don't see Delete for the Beta product.-
if you'll drop me a note at ginevra [at] getsatisfaction.com, I'll help you get it sorted out. I'm not sure if you need to remove your community completely, or just a product?

-
Thanks Ginevra, Morgan deleted it for me.

I have a product that was discontinued last year that I want to simply remove to avoid confusion. Yet I can't, presumably because there are some (very old) topics associated with it. I upgraded to a paid account specifically to do this, and it's pretty frustrating that my privileges over my own products are limited by user comments.
-
Jay, can you tell me which product it is that you want removed?
-
-
Zenbe Personal Mail (http://getsatisfaction.com/zenbe/prod...)
-
-

Do you want all of the topics associated with that product removed, or just disassociated from the product? If you remove the product, the topics will remain. Or, if you want, you can archive those topics, which will mean that they will not show up in search results or in the highlights view of your community homepage. However, they will still show up in your recent activity view but should be getting buried over time as new content comes in. People can still interact with archived topics, but they do not get bumped to the top.
-
I want to delete the product and all the topics, since it no longer exists. Is there a way to do that?
-
-
-
-
-
Yes - since you are on one of the paid plans, you have access to our moderator tools. You can go ahead and remove those topics and then delete the product. One other difference between archiving and removing a topic is that the poster will receive a notification that their topic was removed vs. archiving a topic, which does not create a notification. Sorry if I made this more complicated then it needed to be, and let me know if you have any other questions!
-
-
Thanks, Ki.
So the only way to do this is to open up each topic, one by one, click "remove", select a category, type out a reason, and confirm? For two pages of topics? Am I missing a simpler way to do this?
It seems like there really ought to be a way to delete an entire product and all associated topics in one action.- view 1 more comment

@Jay - you're not alone. There have been a great deal of requests for bulk moderation actions, and we are in the process of getting those out to folks. But sadly, yes - at present you do need to remove them one at a time.-
Thanks Morgan. Glad you're working on it!

We recently relaunched our product, Songza, and would like to delete the old product as the feature set has fundamentally changed. I currently can't delete the product I assume because it has too much action. How should we proceed?

Thanks Morgan. How do I go about removing all the old topics associated with that old product?
-

Unfortunately, those will need to be individually removed or archived. (We'd probably recommend archiving, so that users can still find their content if need be, but the topics will be removed from search.)

Looks like this is the place to request deleted products. Reading through this thread, it doesn't look like there's any easy way to do this, and all I see is an "Edit" button on my products.

Hi!
Could somebody please delete the Expertaneous product within our Expertaneous Community? We've switched the community from using the company name and then going into the depth with the product directly to the product and would now like to delete the product.
Also is there a possibility to reset the statistics? Since we rebootet the community we don't have any content in it but the stats say there are 41 topics already... this might cause some unnecessary confusion for our users!
It would be great if this two points could be fixed!-
Hi Veronica. I went ahead and removed that product for you. We don't currently offer the ability to reset those statistics since keeping a record of activity in a community is in line with our belief in transparency and integrity of content. However, you're always welcome to post that suggestion as an idea in our community. :)

We are starting a new company and thought we would use an old GSat account that one of our team had, we renamed the account, but can't seem to delete all the old content. Any suggestions?

No, I wouldn't recommend changing the name of the existing community, I'd recommend starting a brand new community for the new company, by starting here at our plans page: http://getsatisfaction.com/plans
