How do I edit existing company/product relationships?
We originally set up some products that we offer as a retail outlet. At the time, the only relationship between a product and company was "makes." Now you have new relationships, but how do I edit that? For example, ChicoBag makes ChicoBags (which the product shows), but it still shows US making them too. I want to enable my customers to discuss them in relation to our customer service and such, but don't want to claim credit for "making" them if I don't have to!

Inappropriate?Hi Roy,
I understand your plight and am investigating for you! Hopefully we can find a solution.
I’m pinging our product team now

Inappropriate?yes, totally. we recognize this as an issue in the system, and we're going to figure out a solution soon.
it's a little tricky, because we do want to associate the manufacturer with the product when it's created (somebody made it!) *and also* allow for retail and other associated outlets to connect that product directly to their companies, as well. but, at the moment, our interface doesn't support developing all those relationships in connection with adding a product. soon though! this is definitely a priority for us. -
Inappropriate? You know, I asked another question about volunteering to be semi-official reps for manufacturers of products I sell till their own employees join in. It dawns on me that a good solution to this issue could cover that one at the same time. If you have a list of "sells" relationships, you can show representatives of companies that are likely to help you if the original manufacturer isn't playing.
Haven't thought it all the way through, but seems like a good two-birds-one-stone kinda situation. It's kinda fun brainstorming code I don't have to write myself ;)
I’m thinking it's easy for me to say, eh?

Inappropriate?Hi Roy!
You're thinking along the same lines as us, I like your idea! If you sell Nike shoes, we're planning on showing your company badge (with a tagline like "Sells Nike products") in Nike topics so that everyone can see that you work for a related company. You're comments will have more weight. I like your idea of then conversely showing helpful employees of related companies in unclaimed companies (it even puts a little pressure on the uninvolved company to step up and get active).

Inappropriate?Precisely! I'm glad you were able to make sense of my ramblings, but you've certainly got it on the nose.
Cheers!
I’m impressed
