Inappropriate? If you verify by replying from the company's URL, we consider that a valid verification. So, if your company's URL is www.companyname.com and you reply as johnny@companyname.com, that tells us that you are an employee.
If not, we may contact you to have you send a verification email or verify in some other way.

What if the company's URL is company.com and the email address is bob@company.com.au for example - would that still qualify? -
Yes, sir! -
Inappropriate?I can see how that would work a lot of the time, but what if that's actually a different company?
-
Inappropriate? My apologies for being completely wrong. It will need to match the URL.
-
Inappropriate? Why don't you give control of the verification process over to the owner/admin of the company on GS? That way they'd know if the address was the same company or not.
-
Inappropriate? You sir, are a smart one. That is exactly what will be happening. We are QA testing part of that new system out today, as we speak. Soon, the power to approve will be in company hands. We'll start the ball rolling by verifying the first employee, then it will be in company's hands.

Inappropriate?I think this functionality will take away some of the concerns I had about using GS - so thanks!
I’m looking forward to that new functionality

We send you an email and you click on a link. That way, we know your email is working and valid. That's it!
