if we are using fast pass, what would customers who are not logged in see
We are using Fast Pass. We have many different customer segments (very different customer types). We want our customers to log in through our client portal and Fast Pass because we can capture who they are so that we know what customer segment they belong to and other information to help them better. Different types of customers use our applications in different ways, so we need to know who they are in order to answer their questions.
We are rolling out gradually to our customers--one customer segment at a time. So, we don't want all of our customers to easily find us and start using GS without going through our client portal. We are currently listed as "private" in GS.
If we were to change over to "public" in GS, what exactly would happen if one of our customers from a customer segment that we have not yet rolled out to found it on GS? If someone went to GS and logged in and didn't go through our client portal and Fast Pass, what would they see? If they were to comment on a topic or enter a new topic, would they be prompted to log in through our client portal?

Inappropriate?Hi Cindy,
Good questions. Once your community is made public, anyone could find it if they searched for it via our company search or from a Google search or from clicking through the content posted on a user's dashboard, etc.
(Please understand that right now, anyone could access your community if they somehow knew or guessed the exact URL. Our "private" option is only privacy via obscurity).
With the normal Integrate plan which includes Fastpass, customers may come to your community from your web site (or other channel you've provided to them) and log in via Fastpasss. However, they would also have the option of logging in via their Get Satisfaction account, if they already have one, or via one of our other log in options such as Facebook Connect, Twitter, OpenID, etc. or by creating a new Get Satisfaction user account.
Any user can see your community and view the content, however, they must be logged in to post.
If you wanted to restrict posting in your community to JUST users who have logged in via your FastPass then we'd need to put you in touch with our business team to discuss the options there. We do have at least one customer that will be rolling this type of functionality out for their community around the end of the year but they are on the Customize plan.
Let me know if you'd like me to have someone from our business team contact you.

Inappropriate? Thanks Amy. That was a very clear answer! I understand now. I will let you know if we decide we need to talk with the business team. We may want to do that in the future!
