Integration and merge of RPX login when I already have a GetSatisfaction direct login.
If I login via Facebook or Twitter (using your RPX integration), and I already have a hard-direct login on GetSatisfaction, will everything integrate/merge without error?

Inappropriate?Yes, after you login with one of the third-party logins you'll be asked to confirm an email address. If this is the same email address as the one you've used with an existing GS account, you can simply type your password to confirm this and the new login be merged with the old.
Make sense? -
Hmmm.. in an attempt to be cautious online, I've used a couple of different emails for different services. So... wondering if your reply works when the matching email is merely an "added" email to one of my third-party accounts.
For example, Google allows the assignment of multiple email addresses to one account. How would that play out through the strategy outlined in your reply.
Oh.. and thanks for the QUICK reply. Love it! -
Inappropriate? If you use a different email for each login than you have setup for your main GS account it will create a new account for each. We only connect the login to an account if the email you use for the new login matches one of the email addresses attached to a GS account.

How about creating the ability to associate more than one email with our GS account to overcome that issue? Would that make sense? Just searching for a system-wide solution. I'm sure I'm not the only one using more than one email address. -
You *can* associate more than one email with your GS account, and you can use any of them to link to when adding a new login. What we can't do (easily) is add a new email at the time of logging on with a new third-party system. We still need a known identity to match to, and this is one of the email addresses associated with the existing GS account. -
Yes, you can add more than one email address to your GS user account. Then you decide which one should be the "primary" account -- that's the one notifications will be sent to when there is new activity in topics you're following. -
Inappropriate?ok... I must have missed the spot where I can add/associate more than one email with my GS account. No problem...I'll go look again. I could easily have either missed it or not looked in some time. Based on Thor's reply, as long as I have an email address associated within my GS account which corresponds to the email from the third-party network, my accounts should merge problem free. I'll give it a shot.
I wonder this same question every time I see federated login functionality on any site. This issue is not exclusive to GS... just saying so you don't feel singled out on this topic. :-)
Thanks again for the attention to my concern. I'll give it a try...maybe in the morning. Cross your fingers for me.
I’m thankful

Inappropriate?Hi Jim. This is where you can add additional emails to your user account.
Good luck. Let us know how it goes. We all have our fingers crossed that it will work as we expect. :)

Thanks. I should have come back and posted that I did find where to add emails... and, yes, it was a "duh" moment. :-) But, my morning got away from me. I have not tried to login via a federated source yet. I'll let you know when I do.
You folks rock! -
Inappropriate?Well.. how about that?!?!?!? When I posted that last comment, I was not logged in to GS. Therefore, I was prompted to login...and given all the options. For that last post, I came in through Twitter.
This post is being created while logged in as described above. Seems to work just fine. Now.. my avatar is not showing beside the comment box at the moment. I'm assuming it will all come together when I hit submit. We'll see.
If so... THANKS for the clarity.
I’m confident

Yep, there's your avatar! -
Inappropriate?Awesome, Jim. Glad this all worked as we all expected/hoped.
BTW, avatars only show next to replies, not comments. Not sure if that's what you meant but I just wanted to clarify.
I’m relieved

I'm with you on the difference. This post is a comment...so no avatar. I'm with ya.
