Include the associated product name in email notifications
When you send me an email please make it more clear which product the email refers to. My company has several products, plus I have GS tickets on other projects. It would be so much easier if I could tell at a glance what project the GS email was referring to.

Inappropriate?Sorry to hear this is a problem for you. I think that this is a reasonable request. our emails are pretty stripped down, but maybe we can add info like this.
Maybe the email notifications for employees needs to be different, to take into account details like this. Thanks for sharing this. I'll see what everyone else here thinks about getting something like this implemented.
Quick question: When you say different projects, are you referring to other companies or products -- or something else? Just want to make sure I understand your experience. -
Inappropriate?Hi Eric,
Thanks for the reply. We are using GS for a few of our own projects (Less Accounting, More Honey, etc) but I am also tracking info I put into external projects, like twitter or GS itself. When ever I receive an email it should say the name of the project it is for at the very top and maybe even the subject line. -
Inappropriate?I agree with Steven. The product/company association needs to be made explicit at a glance.
-
Inappropriate?Ah, gotcha. Thanks for clarifying. We'll see if we can't get that updated to make it more clear.
-
Inappropriate? We're getting so much mail, and now that we have multiple products, the mail stream is heavy, and we have no indication of which product an issue is regarding. Please help us out with this!!!
I’m frustrated
-
Inappropriate?I just want to highlight that adding the product to the email (even in the body, just somewhere) would allow us to set up mail rules to file based on product.
Having product-specific RSS feeds would also solve this problem.
I’m buried in email
-
Inappropriate?Good news! I had the dev team take a look, and we now have product-specific RSS feeds.
And, I am working on changing the email notifications so they can include product-specific information. Can't promise it, but it looks good and we might be able to get it done super quick. Fingers crossed.
I’m yippee-ing

Inappropriate?Update: We met about this, about including product-specific info in email messages. We stewed on it and pontificated greatly and pushed pros and cons in different directions. Our conclusion: We want to do this, but we want to do it right. So, it's not going to be the simple fix we hoped it might be. We have always planned to make this part of our team dashboard that we're designing, so that employees can filter and share things efficiently. Putting this into email might be a quick hack, but we think we can do it better.
So, we have this on our product roadmap, although I don't have a deadline for it yet. -
Inappropriate? What a let down. All I want is something added to the subject line. Do you really have to solve all the other problems just to add to the subject line? To be honest I don't care about the dashboard, search or filtering. I mean I do care, but it is a very different issue than helping me out with my inbox.
Please do two things:
1. Add something to the subject line of the emails.
2. Figure out who railroaded the meeting and turned such a small simple fix into such a major deal and either fire him/her or promote him/her. Get him/her out of our way.
Seriously, why do you even need a meeting to change the subject line?
I’m sad, angry, frustrated
-
Inappropriate? It's a little more complicated than simply hacking a field into the subject line, and we always want to think things through. I hate that this is causing you frustration, but it's the way we are currently planning on tackling it. I have a lot of respect for our developers and the way they plan things. As I mentioned earlier, RSS is still an option, which is the way I approach filtering emails.
We'll do our best to speed it up. And, I'll be sure to share your thoughts with everyone here. -
Inappropriate?Hi Steven, we definitely take this issue seriously. However, with thousands of companies and hundreds of thousands of users we have to be careful about systemic changes or we create bigger problems than we solve. Also, keep in mind that not every topic is associated with a product, while many others are associated with multiple products. Whatever we implement has to account for such nuances. So thanks for bearing with us as we get this addressed!
P.S. I think Eric was using the term "meeting" loosely. We have an open office and discuss these things in real time without the formality of a board room meeting. More like a dorm room meeting :)
I’m full of holiday cheer
-
Inappropriate? One thought is to add product/company info in an X-GetSatisfaction-Tags: header, or equivalent to the emails, that can be used for filtering by the informed recipients but would be invisible to most users.
-
Inappropriate? Thanks for nudging us on this. I'll work on moving the solution forward because I can appreciate how valuable this would be for you.
In general, we'd like to really improve the way we handle products in the system. Ideas like this are really key to that.
I’m thankful
