Make someone a "community leader"
How do I make a non-employee of my company a "community leader"? I want to take a few of our active community participants and grant them special status as "ommunity leaders". They are answering tons of questions and have volunteered to respond to requests from our users.

Inappropriate?Great question! We are working on a way for companies to designate "deputies" or "champions" -- people who are awesome helpers but not employees. It's part of our new set of company tools, which we're working on right now and should have ready by the end of summer.
I already have a list of Get Satisfaction champions I want to designate.
I’m totally with you

Inappropriate?Hi Eric, as summer too quickly draws to an end, I find myself anxious to use these new company tools, especially this tool to be-knight my most valuable customers. How goes the development of said tools?

Hi ashponders -- We're not ready with our "champions" feature just yet, but do keep your eyes out for an email from us regarding the new company tools. We are in the 11th hour before the release. :) -
Inappropriate?Actually the ability to have various types of roles, defined by the company itself. For example, we have experts in our field who are not employees. We'd love them to have a badge of honor/authority.
Also, another role of great use would be "partner" since many companies co-mingle when providing customers support. Our company is a retailer but we have a number of manufacturers that would also love to provide support to our customers. Even one step further would be the ability to cross-post support topics when necessary. -
Chuck, we couldn't agree more! We're already plotting & planning around this idea. -
Too cool! Keep up the great work, Amy and co. -
Thanks, Chuck! -
Inappropriate?Any update on the Status of this feature?
-
Inappropriate? We aren't quite there yet, but we definitely have it on our radar. We had a big meeting this past week to plan out our next big dev cycle, and this one is on the board, but I don't have a definitive timeline yet.

Inappropriate?I saw that there were a couple of ideas in the past for a reward system. This idea seems like a subset of a bigger issue: engage users.
A users forum is not just functional. It is social. To make it social, you need to engage users. You want users to come to the forum even if they don't have a problem, just to see what's up.
I'm sure you've read this, but just in case you didn't:

Yep, familiar with that one but thanks for the feedback anyway! :) -
Inappropriate?Update: We are now testing out the first iteration of our new Champions feature. Companies will be able to designate customers as super-friendly expert types. Full details soon, but I wanted to let you know that the badges for Champions are designed (and look great), and this should be ready in the coming weeks, possibly sooner. Thanks to everyone who voted on this idea and let us know that you wanted it. We're excited to get it up and running.
I’m happy

I think you mean "designate customers/users as super-friendly expert types," right? -
When will the "Volunteer" badge come out, where companies can designate Un-employed Official Reps that don't have an Employee box? I believe I was promised that as being in the works about 7 months ago. -
You cheeky bird, Thomas! We had the design for that months ago indeed, and this new feature is the first stage in realizing it. -
Will I still be able to be an admin while not being an employee? -
Yep, that's what I meant. Thanks, Thor. -
Happy news, team GS! This is a great addition to GS' capabilities! -
@Thomas Not right away. The first release of the "champions" badge is just that -- a badge. Future iterations will include options for allowing access to moderation tools, etc. It's all still coming together. -
Thanks, Rene! -
Inappropriate?Speaking of badges....my employee badge is missing and my community members wonder where it has gone: http://getsatisfaction.com/songbird/t...
I’m slightly off topic...
-
Feel free to start a new topic, too. I'll look into this. Thanks. -
Yeah, I was just digging in and can't figure it out. We'll have to ask one of our Devs to take a look. Sorry about that, Laura! -
Fixed. Your badge should start showing up as the caches get cleared -
Thanks, Scott! -
Swell, thanks Team GS! -
Inappropriate? How can we get community badges?
-
Hi, halle. Well, we have Champion badges for exceptional customers. It's available to our Basic and up customers. Is that what you mean? Or, am I misunderstanding? -
Hey Eric, here's a stupid question... How exactly do we promote someone to champion status? I went browsing around our admin interface (we have a basic plan) and didn't see anything... Help?
Edit: Just saw in a separate topic that the feature needs to be explicitly enabled on your account. How do I sign up? An email to info@gsfn? :-)

John: Our Champions feature is still technically in beta, so we haven't announced it yet. So, yeah: Shoot me an email! eric [at] getsatisfaction [dot] com -
Inappropriate?Eric,
We're looking for a status that is "official" but that does not say "employee". Kiva has an open API and we have 3rd party developers who are going to be fielding questions about their apps. They are qualified to answer questions, but are not employees (so the badge is misleading).
Is there any option for us to accommodate this situation? We really want to use Get Satisfaction, but this may be a barrier for us.
Thank you!
Halle -
Inappropriate?halle: The Champions feature is designed to give a company-sanctioned badge to non-employees. Does that not work for you?
Here's an example: http://getsatisfaction.com/yola/people -
Well, it's a feature for our Basic and up companies. Hope that's not a disappointment. -
Oh no! Kiva.org is a 501(c)3-- and we are all volunteers. anyway we could get a reduced or free version? -
Shoot Lane Becker an email at lane [at] getsatisfaction [dot] com -
I will actually see him at a wedding this weekend. Will ask him then :) Thanks Eric!
