Inappropriate?Hi thedano,
So you were posting a problem and then had to create your account but lost what you had typed when you went to create the account? Were you by any chance using OpenID to create your account? We have a known issue with that. Otherwise, it should've worked. Can you give me any more info about what happened so we can figure out what the problem might be?
Sorry for the frustration! -
Inappropriate?I used the Microsoft "Live" login, my hotmail account tends to be my spam bucket nowadays.
I started by typing in a problem report with "delicious library". Someone else had a similar problem so I was adding a description of the program's behavior as a reply to an existing thread. My post was the sixth on the page. Once I pressed "post reply" I was prompted to create an account. Upon completing the registration process, I was redirected to the same page, but my post was no longer there. Bummer.
I never bothered to re-type my complaint. Instead I asked a question of the developer and got an answer. Good to get an answer, bad that it wasn't what I wanted to hear...
Ah, now there's a (javascript?) pop-up window warning me that I'm going to lose everything I typed. I don't remember seeing that the first time. Good thing I backed out (cancel on the pop-up, then cancel on the log-in) to copy the text. That's probably what happened the first time. Is there no way to hold a session open for a few minutes to let someone login without losing their post? -
Inappropriate?Hi thedano,
It's in our queue to address this issue. The way our log-in system was architected it takes you to a new page if you're logging in using OpenID or Windows Live ID and thus you lose your typed content. We do serve up that warning as you indicated (I'm not sure why it didn't appear the first time). I completely understand how frustrating it is to lose your content and, as I said, it is in the queue to be fixed.
I apologize for the inconvenience in the meantime!
