New ideas
Hi there,
I do have some new ideas. :D
1. You should be able to hide / collapse the "Active companies in Get Satisfaction right now" on the home page. It just bugs me. ;-) Maybe one could use the space (only when collapsed!) for something else. For example for suggested companies / products based on...whatever.
Another option would be to add a checkbox "show only products, you haven't added yet", which would provide real value to me, because I might want to check out new companies / products, but if 50% of the shown companies / products I already added, this is difficult.
2. Search / Dashboard related:
You should add buttons or something like that with the following options:
2.1. "Show unanswered threads you started" (no answers from anyone but maybe you)
2.2. "Show threads with no company answers" (only additions / questions / comments from other users or yourself)
2.3. "Show unsolved issues" (I'm not sure if I proposed this one before...)
2.4. "Show solved issues" (optional, maybe for the control freaks or if you know, you flagged something "solved" recently, which you want to review again. :))
3. Old issue: I still miss the possibility to add more details to your short profile.
3.1 Location could be more differentiated. Maybe linked to Plazes or GoogleMaps.
3.2. I can't even add my job title! (Maybe I can when adding a company? Didn't try it, but it should be possible even without adding it directly to Get Satisfaction!)
4. What comes to my mind concerning companies: If you REALLY want to maybe have every kind of company here, did you think about both the topic of complex problems (mechanical / technical issues maybe someone wants to discuss) and privacy (although I doubt some "oldfashioned" company will register here and talk about engineering here is highly unlikely anyway...), "the longterm vision", so to speak? Just want to add that, although I think you might have already thought that through.
5. Get Satisfaction should also keep track of the companies and products you added and/or edited, if possible. At least there should be sth. like "You added x companies and y products:" > company a | company b | product q | product r ...etc. (showing the boxes, as everytime) ...of course also inside your timeline on your Dashboard / Newsfeed.
Kind regards,
Phil
PS: I love your new, subtle interface improvements!! =)

Thanks for the ideas, Phillip. As always, a lot of useful stuff there.
First of all, one idea for you. :) It would be super useful if you could post each of your ideas as separate topics. I know it's a bit more work, but that way they're more findable by others, easier to track the status of each idea, etc.
Now as for your ideas above...
1. I really like that idea. We are actually re-designing the main home page right now so we'll be sure it gets considered.
2. Yes, the personal dashboard *will* be redesigned at some point. We all want to bring a lot more of this kind of thing into it. We've got some other stuff ahead of it in the pipeline, though.
3. Yeah, you can add a job title when you're signed up as an employee for a company that is on Get Satisfaction. Again, though, some interesting ideas. Not sure if everyone would be into the location data, though. Hmmm...
4. We do have some plans for the exchange of private information. I'm not sure what else you're suggesting here. I know right now our company demographics skew tech-heavy but we do have plans for creating a broader appeal.
5. Again, good ideas. Relates back to data / activity that is captured on the user dashboard. All good stuff that we will be considering when that re-design time comes.
Glad you like the recent changes! We're constantly striving to improve.
I’m grateful for your input

Hi Amy, thanks for your first tip, really valuable!!! :) Of course I'll do that for you, no problem! :) I just assumed until now, you'd be able to work with it better this way, as some points I make, aren't that huge. ;-) But of course I mix a lot of different topics, that's not so good, yes. :D -
Inappropriate?Hi Amy,
just to clarify some points:
3. > Not sure if everyone would be into the location data, though. Hmmm...
Of course!! :) I also would make it optional, as this is a highly sensible topic!
Should've marked-off that more clearly.
5. Here I meant the individual companies / products you and me have added.
I now also see another point: It would be more work, to always create a "screenshot-mounting", but I'll create such in the future, if I can spend the time.
*edit* I also do see one advantage now: When I'd maybe search one of my topics myself! But that is also a question of your search system of course. :P ...
Thanks for sharing some of your inside thoughts and information! :)
I’m happy

Inappropriate?Hi Amy,
I had to again think about your wise hint. It wouldn't let go of me.
As one can't reach employees via PN (yet?), I'll ask my question here:
Shall I look through my old topics and rewrite and split them in correct single topics? Although answered topics can't be deleted by me of course...
I'm just thinking about the core issue "structure" here again!
This is a huge topic for me anyway, in every part of my life.
(Although it might not look like that. ;-)
All my ideas in the core aim at more structure, if not directly, than in the way of "human information / task gathering and processing".
The reasons for my questions will lead to new topic soon. ;-)
I’m confident

No worries, Phillipp. No need to re-do your topics. Just a suggestion for going forward. :) -
Hi Amy, I know this is a bold and egoistic thought, but as a eager user I'm "automatically" somehow sceptical that you'll (be able to) follow up on all my ideas as quick as possible. ;) Just want to help you and me to get the stuff ordered & on your to-do list. ;) -
Hi Phillip. Well, we have a product roadmap planned for the next 4-6 months which is based around our bigger picture business goals. As other good ideas come in, we add them to our wish list and bump up the priority as necessary / where fitting. So it's not so much about the quantity of ideas you give us but more about where they fall in terms of our short & long term goals for the company and web site. And any good idea will certainly be considered!
