New target groups for GSFN - how about private groups?
Hi Get Satisfaction team, supporters and users,
I want to start a longterm, greatly open-minded discussion about new user groups and new target groups Get Satisfaction could and should tap.
Longterm is the keyword, one that inspired me:
* Mailing list inhabitants!
Others:
* Yahoo! & Google Groups inhabitants, which is basically the same as a mailing list.
* Freelancers (I know there are already some there, so just as a reminder/note-to-self...)
* NGO's, associations & clubs!
User groups:
* Technically motivated users (already here, but not (only) company/product related but more development & Open-Source focussed...)
* Politically motivated users (as already here with Barack Obama)
Of course most of the above want to have a strict privacy policy, but I see no problem there, as Get Satisfaction is a lot more comfortable than most mailing lists and equivalents! :)
You just have to somehow get the message out there.
Because I think, if the content itself is valuable, why not "only" using the "discussion" feature 90% of the time? And if there is a internal moderation team (how about reporting something as "Inappropriate" to an assigned "group leader/moderator", is this planned?), there wouldn't occure any noteworthy extra work for the Get Satisfaction team or the "global support team".
Ok, so far for now, I'm tired and will be gone for some hours...

Inappropriate?Sorry, Phillip, but I got a bit confused about this one and had to think about it for a few days. I guess we could target folks like this.
Here is something to consider, although it is a bit out there. We have talked about creating a "blog" tab for companies. This could be a spot where companies or organizations can create their own RSS-able blog-like content to get additional words out about their company. If we kept it very simple, I am sure groups like you mention would be attracted to that. -
Inappropriate?Hi Eric, thanks for your answer. :) What did you confuse about my topic?
Or why did you get confused? Did I shock you? ;-) Or was I too unprecise?
I'd really take this serious and want to explain you my thoughts!
Concerning your "blog" idea, I don't know how you got the connection there :D, but I think this is a legitimate idea. Although I doubt a company would also "outsource" its blog! Companies are just not consumers which use free online hosted blog sites.
As an example for these private groups, maybe you'll understand who is the target group (regardless of the medium): "The Satisfactory", your internal group.
If you need to talk about / work on internal issues, you often create an internal, private* group for this, if you're not totally technically dismissive. (Like some German politicians and many older business leaders...)
So far for now...
* Although these aren't private here yet of course...
I’m confident
