New topic options for the GSFN homepage
Hi Get Satisfaction team,
I just thought about how to solve the problem of bringing certain topics to a broader community attention. Thor Muller stated here:
"I'd want to get a better sense for how many people follow brands on Twitter in this way before we spent the time to develop this...".
There is a quite simple solution for this issue. Maybe you are already planning it:
Additional to the "Latest topic" for the individual company on the homepage ("Active companies in Get Satisfaction right now"), there should be a "Hot topics now", "Most discussed this week" and/or "New ideas/problems/questions" area, so that we are really getting a dynamic picture or the activity on Get Satisfaction and are not that company focused as currently. From my point of view, the "active companies..." thing doesn't provide a lot of value.
This is because, one doesn't know most of the companies! (At least currently, as mainly web(2.0) companies are there...) The point is: "Last posting" isn't a quality feature, "most discussed/replied/liked" is indeed one! One new or curious users can really orientate themselves by.
I hope you get my point, maybe I'll add a screenshot montage, but I currently don't have an idea, how a visual proportioning could be solved best.
Thanks for listening to my ideas.
Kind regards.

Inappropriate? We do have the option to choose the "most popular" but I am also a fan of letting people see the "hottest topics" or the ones that are getting the most activity, are blowing up, etc.

But the "most popular" option is only available for a single company/product! Not for "all companies" or "all products". And certainly not for the home page of GSFN. And this topic was - as the title indicates - ONLY about/concerning the home page design.
