Our customers would like to subscribe to Company Updates
We've gotten some feedback recently from our customers saying that it's difficult to find announcements from us (new software updates, news, etc). They tend to "fall off" the front page too quickly, and, while the "Latest Update From..." area is helpful, it can get replaced pretty quickly as well.
While we do our best to tag each announcement appropriately (and the new Company Updates feature helps a ton!), not everyone takes advantage of RSS feeds, and would prefer email notifications from us.
All that being said, may I suggest a feature where customers are able to subscribe to email notifications of any "Company Update" topics posted from companies they care about.
We get this request fairly often from our customers, it'd be nice to respond with a "oh, sure, just click the 'Notify Me!' button and you'll be all set!" rather than trying to convince them that RSS is the way to go. :)
Thanks again for such a great site!

Inappropriate?Hi John,
Thanks for the great suggestion. Also, you'll be happy to know that we've got some changes coming that will give your updates better visibility as well.

Inappropriate?Just wanted to post a small followup on this... :-)
A co-worker came into my office today and mentioned that some customers were frustrated with us because they "never know when our new stuff is out," and "doesn't our awesome support site let people subscribe to announcements somehow?" Which reminded me of this topic.
We'll probably start looking at using our salesforce account to push out notifications to our customer base, but to be honest, your site is so much nicer to use, for both us and our users. Plus, it would allow them to control their own notification preferences better than what we could haphazardly wire up with salesforce.
Anyway, just wanted to add another "+1."
Thanks gang,
-John

Inappropriate? We were just talking about this yesterday and how we need to speed this up. This is very important, IMHO. You need a way to communicate to customers, and the company update sent via email is the way to do it.

How can users automatically receive my company updates by email?. -
Inappropriate? This would be a great idea if customers were either emailed updates or could be more prominent on the site. Customers are not being updated of fixes well enough.

Inappropriate?I agree with this topic. For customers who don't subscribe to the feed and would like to be notified of updates and what's on it, some sort of notification system would be a great function. Have you guys considered adding the possibility of being able to put up a static top post or an *attention* thread capability?
I’m confident

Hi William. We do have a "Company Update" topic type. The latest company update pops up in the right column on the community home page. The next step would be to allow customers to subscribe to "company update" topics.
