Please add text field enlarge buttons / functionality
Hi there,
I'd like to really see buttons / the functionality for enlarging (and shrinking) of all the text fields (boxes?) here on GS, that are for starting a new topic or answering one (not including comments, which is discussed here (but doesn't include my idea)).
This is especially a point because of the new interface design on the companies home sites, as the text boxes there are really small.
Technically, this should be solved with a technique, that is basically also usable without a mouse. (I don't know the name of the language, but I know examples in the www, but don't find them currently...will add them soon...)

The company has no plans to do this.

Inappropriate?I'm not sure we will be able to change the size of text fields. We have made comments smaller than replies, for example, to encourage people to post replies unless they have a quick shout-out to make as a comment. We have design reasons for some of this. I think we rely on browser users to make the text itself larger or smaller for easy reading. I hope I'm hearing you correctly; let me know if I'm not.

Inappropriate?Hi Eric, I can understand your point. But I think threads, answers and comments are differing in their usage reason and not primarily in their length!
E.g. you can't tell me, you want to restrict the post length of a started thread with the dimensions you use on the companies site! :P
(I'm talking about e.g. this one: http://getsatisfaction.com/satisfaction)
Of course you can and should keep the standard size! But you should be able to enlarge the text field, as you aren't able to do this with browser tools!! (Except if you use a Greasemonkey script or special extension..) Using text shrinking would really be bad, because you won't be able to read the text really soon. You always have to think about older people and the ones wearing glasses. Most of the people I know won't be to read the font size, I do use on my PC and browsers at all!
My point is: The user will write more, if he likes to or needs to anyway!
So try to help him as much as possible instead.
E.g. I do never use the new thread posting box mentioned above, although I like it, as I can at least click on "Continue and add details".
But maybe in this case (and also when writing comments) I'd write along, when I'd be provided with a "enlarge text" button. And to add more details won't be bad in every case would it?
I'm not sure about your picture of the typical user or how this will impact his behavior, but I don't think it'll have such a huge (negative) impact on text length!
Concerning replies, I'm now perceiving you do have implemented this already (the text field grows as you get on a new line), so that's a great thing!
I’m confident

Inappropriate?I'd like to the option of applying enlarged view to my Google Search bar, to field and text within field. If this feature already exists I'll appreciate your kind advice, as I have been unable to make desired change on my own - though I've tried.
Thank you for inviting me to comment and for your consideration.
Sincerely, Bluesky
I’m risking appearing silly here because I've honestly tried to solve this problem I cannot on my own.
